"Better than being stuck there."

Everyone has been talking too quickly for Ekundayo to really easily interject, but:

"He seemed to know he was going to be taken. Asked me to step back."

"...... I have no idea what to do with that," says Sivetrys, in the awkward silence that follows. "I mean, it's good information, just..."

"Do you think he was enchanted?"

Awkward shrug.

"Looked more miserable than usual at the time, but under the circumstances..."

"Okay. So. Maybe actually bind him, like one of those stupid and amoral spellcasters, and check him for enchantments before we let him go?"

"That seems so mean???"

"Being smart and being nice aren't always mutually exclusive, but..."

"Yeah, yeah, I just wanted to grumble about it. It's Tristian, it'd be like being mean to a puppy."

Uma looks dubious! "...Commune first, right?" On account of. The potential archmage.

(Luto feels kinda lost, but she really doesn't want to interrupt to ask clarifying questions. She can get caught up later.)

"Commune first," says Sivetrys, firmly. "Preferably with Sarenrae, specifically, though I'm not sure they... sell them precisely? Since Tristian didn't."

"Could ask Torag," says Ekundayo. "If we teleport to Highhelm."

"He's definitely second on the list, but, it's - in absence of his ability to consent to any of this, I'd like to follow Tristian's preferences as we know them?"

Ekundayo gives an acknowledging incline of his head.

(Torag would absolutely be willing to sell a Commune question to a sixth-circle Good spellcaster. Instead of the weird, strange, not reliably centrally organized thing that Sarenrae does. Very inefficient.)

She frowns as she digs through her memories. ...oh, right, Major Churches of the Inner Sea had notes about publicly-disclosed Commune policies.

"The Dawnflower's church... does not sell Communes. If you tell them what happened, they might do it for free. They'd appreciate a donation. won't require one."

...She really appreciates the way Sivetrys is trying to do right by Tristian, here.

"That's about how Tristian conducted things, too," agrees Sivetrys, nodding. "I think it should be fine? I'm just not sure if either Caliphas or Highhelm has a cleric of the appropriate circle. Absalom does, I even know some people at one of the local temples of Sarenrae, but I can get to it from either city. So cast your votes now on which I use as a teleportation destination?"

"Highhelm."

This is not a hard question. Caliphas is in Ustalav, and accordingly has the problem of needing the living populace evacuated, all structures and forests burned to the ground, and the entire place purged in several hundred thousand Hallows, if there's literally any chance the place could be less haunted. Highhelm is the crown jewel of the Five Kings Mountains, with no undead problems, and a high population of very sensible and pragmatic dwarves, who as a species offer the most moral method of spellsilver acquisition in Avistan.

Quick glance at Uma in case she has an opinion...

"...Highhelm." They should really not be selling their most valuable possession in Ustalav. "We need to sell... the sword." Sivetrys and Jubilost have both read her notes at this point, they'll know what she means.

She's not sure why that means Highhelm over Caliphas, but she trusts Uma and doesn't want to bother her for an explanation when she's still like this. (It's scary, seeing her like this.)

"I vote Highhelm as well."

"If we didn't know the specifics of making sure our bits if skull fragments stay dead, Caliphas might be worth it. Since we do, bringing the lich to join its peers seems like rather a poor idea." He adjusted his glasses. "Even setting aside that sword that practically screams Give me to an undead champion."

"I've never been to Highhelm before. Is it nice?"

"It's very orderly and organized, but also kind of..." Sivetrys trails off. "It's got four layers to it, and they're pretty regimented. We'll be going to the second layer, King's Heart - it has the major temples and adventurers' markets, and is more free spirited than the rest of the city. The others, uh. Are a mixed bag, let's say."
