Almost two weeks pass. Sadde still has work, even if school's out, but they and Theo hang out a bit more. No new cards appear, and Kero seems to not think that strange, so Sadde themself doesn't care. And one day Theo gets a text in the morning: Happy birthday!
They go upstairs and to his room.
"School, too. Other than that, nah, not really."
Moping around. Not crying. That's totally not interesting, right?
Kero appears from nowhere and says, "He's sad all the time he doesn't even give me food anymore!"
"Theo," he sighs. "Look, just—talk to me? Please? I'm sorry. What did I do wrong?"
"Oh, no, it's fine, don't worry!" he says, smiling, then throwing a quick glare at Kero, then smiling again.
"I need to know, so I won't do it again in the future! I can stop with the masculinity thing, maybe I went a bit far. Or was it the kiss? I could promise to—well, that would suck, I guess, but I could promise never to kiss you, either. Just tell me."
"There's a super hearing card?"
He might be trying to avoid the subject.
"The la—oh. Oh. Well why didn't you just say so?" he asks, and his arms are around Theo's neck and oop they're kissing now.
Whoa, no, not what he meant. He starts trying to pull away for maybe half a second.
Then he realises that it's pretty much what he asked for and wants, so why the hell is he resisting.
'They're kissing now' indeed.
That's not what Kero wanted. That's not at all what Kero wanted. Kero will float off somewhere and not be around the teenagers kissing.
