"It sure would. But I'm honestly not sure what an algae version of the lots-of-fruit smell would even be like."

"Mm. Anyway, thank you very much."

"You're welcome!"

Idarai glances at Edie.

"I'm going last just in case."

"Fair enough."

He accepts his cup, his eyes widening slightly as he drinks it.

"That is good."

"Having been injured at the time of dosing doesn't affect how much you need to be immortal, does it?"

"Maybe possibly a little theoretically technically but for all practical purposes no."

"This is a big-ass room. I guess that makes sense if you are literally a quarter star. Actually maybe I'm surprised it isn't bigger."

"...I'm developmentally mature, but I'm not done growing."

"Huh. Neat."

"Fascinated as I am by the implications of stellar biology, should we maybe be considering strategy? Having a whole group of us is helpful, but I can't imagine it's sufficient in the long run."

"Yeah. Uh, is Mewtwo going to be back soon? We should maybe go to my and Emily's room if she is, unless we're inviting her, which it seems like perhaps we are not."

"I think it would make sense to consider her adjacent to our group, but yes, do let's switch venues. After I put this away." She caps the cider and climbs the wall again to stash it in a different cranny.

"Do we want to invite my roommate? He was very helpful when, uh, I was briefly accosted by a woman with a knife."

"My brief invasion of privacy does indicate that he is also here to solve slavery-related world problems."

"Why do so many worlds have slavery-related problems! Okay, let's ask him, I guess."

"I guess it makes sense for worlds that send people here to have slavery-related problems except I would expect a higher proportion of them to be here to exacerbate the problems, not fix them. Maybe it's just a fundamental flaw in the human condition, my world used to have slavery-related problems."

"My would-be slavers aren't human. They're these green triangle-y guys."

"Maybe it's a flaw in the process of using evolution to produce people. Something something competition baser instincts."

"Maybe." Sigh. "Can you find out reasonably noninvasively where Idarai's roommate is?"

"Yes."

Pause.

"Aaaaaaaand somebody got him already. He's in their room, I don't think I can un-get him from here, I'm not familiar enough with how robot brains work yet."

"Great. Idarai, lead the way."

Idarai takes off for his room.
