That is so cool. "No, I'll defer to your expertise."

Then Ennis will gauge her skin tone and mix up a custom batch of foundation and get underway on masc contouring.

When he's done, Kareen pulls out a (non-magical) mirror to examine herself. 

"...Wow. I really look like Papa, like this. I mean, Papa when he was in uni, I'm sure. Still."

"I wasn't aiming for my own mother at all and wound up with one of my aunts on my father's side instead."

"I don't have a lot of extended family, I think I'd be less likely to recognize something like that."

"Most of us do. Though varying levels of closeness, of course."

"I keep meaning to look up whether either of Dad's siblings who lived to adulthood left any descendants and I never get around to it."

"How would you, from here?"

"Well, ask Dad to do it, pretty much. But mostly it's something that came up back home, not something that's come up here."

Nod. "...they're still staring at me. Less, but they keep looking my way."

"...Yes. That would be because of how splendid you look." 

"I didn't think people would stare at me about it."

"Ah. Well, that happens, is people staring at other people, who are very pretty." Kareen is generally pro-staring but this is the wrong time to say so.

Ennis considers this and then gets up and goes over to the starers.

Kareen really wishes she could be more sure that she had actually been helpful. 

Oh well. There are other people besides Ennis who could use emotional support, and also people still arriving who could use sartorial assistance. Does anyone want an unnecessarily elaborate feather boa, she kind of got carried away with the feather boas. 

Sure, Liam will take an unnecessarily elaborate feather boa, and sequins, if he's doing this at all he'd rather be cringe by way of doing it than cringe by way of grouchily not participating.

Liam can have a feather boa where every feather is a slightly different color, and also sparkly, and something with lots of sequins (stitched on, not glued, so she won't be picking sequins off of everything forever).

Meanwhile Gail is having an absolutely fabulous time mixing up mocktails and putting umbrellas in them and swaying through the fog in the colorful lights under the balloons.

And Kareen puts on movies in three different spots, carefully sound-baffled to not interfere with each other too much, and makes sure there's plenty of juice and soda and anti-anxiety potion, and makes sure the fog is touched up every now and then, and replaces balloons that pop, and she takes a few turns around the dancefloor herself--she can't not show off with Lightfoot, a bit, it's too fantastic. 

And her outer self, not surrounded by partygoers, incants a divination spell, and watches the whole party at once. 

Some Like It Hot is hilarious. Gail has such good ideas.

Eventually it occurs to Kareen to check in on Ennis. 

She's loosened up a bit and is sitting quite close to Sean while Nia blows bubbles at them.

Oh good! That's much better than when last she checked in.
