"I've never really been to a party of this nature."

"And you're...less comfortable than you expected?"

"I may've gone overboard with the makeup. Isla asked me to do hers, but then she hated it and washed it off, so I should have realized I'd be the only one..."

"Well, if it's any consolation, I think you look splendid."

"Thank you."

"...Is it bothering you, that Sean didn't recognize you?" That would be a reason to regret the makeup. 

"- is that why he's staring at me?"

"I assume so? I definitely saw him not recognize you."

"Oh."

"Sorry. I might have warned you if I'd thought of it, but," she waves a hand at her face. "Enhanced vision, I didn't realize it wasn't obvious."

"I thought possibly you wouldn't recognize me but Sean's known me all our lives."

"Yeah, I thought that part was weird!!!"

"He could have gotten into the habit of mostly recognizing people by their clothes, I guess, it worked reasonably well with some hiccups around change of term before you arrived."

"...Might be that he wasn't expecting you to pass so well, I mean, most of the drag here is around this level," she gestures to herself, "but at least one of my dads is trans, so I have more experience with, you know, that kind of thing. I recognized you but I was impressed, you're really good with makeup."
