Once the subject has almost a whole hand they want to start trying to self-stir and see if they can get anywhere less... random... with that.

--You know what, that's not really useful for this specific case, but yes, she would! She will learn that spell before asking more specifically for a spell that turns off pain but not consciousness.

Would she like to annihilate the nocioceptors?

...Huh. She checks in on how her test subject feels about having her nocioceptors annihilated.

She will learn the nocioceptor annihilation spell and try it on her, then.

Self-stirring proceeds reasonably apace from there.

Kareen goes to talk to a couple of other people in maw-mouth mirrors to solicit a volunteer for the medical coma spell. One at a time, because if the medical coma spell doesn't work on maw-mouth victims she doesn't want to disappoint more of them than necessary.
