She had better be.

Giggle kiss.

And off, to slink into Hogwarts as a definitely not suspicious kitty cat. She Apparates initially a good ways outside of Hogsmeade, appearing in her Animagus form (learning to Apparate while transformed was a pretty major breakthrough). Her cat form's surprisingly fast for such a small body, and she crosses the distance to Hogwarts' gates without much issue other than chilly paws - and her magic's offsetting a lot of the cold, anyways.

Nothing stops her from weaving through the gate, nor from meandering over to one of the gardens to slip in through a side door on the heels of some students. (She accepts pats from them, of course, then bounds on.) The climb up a few flights to the Gryffindor Tower entrance warms her up pretty nicely, and she doesn't meet any adults on her way. Once she finishes the climb, she sits outside of the dorm, licking her paw and nonchalantly cleaning her face, until some students come by to let her in.

The social invisibility of a cat very obviously trying to break into a place is amazing.

The girl's dorm Lily's in takes some idle wandering, but the beds all have the students' name at the foot, and Lily's things are easy enough to find and begin nosing through...

The dorm room door clicks shut, a small murmur of a spell locking it.

...No time to reset Lily's things, but she's on the other side of a bed from the door right now -

She darts under the bed.

Footsteps, and then a girl kneeling by the bed, lifting up the skirt and peering under, the tip of her wand lit.

"I know you're there," she says. "Come on out."

No she is definitely an alarmed kitty who's going to hide under this bed until the scary human goes away.

"I want to talk, Bastet, and it'll be very inconvenient if I have to force you back to human while you're under my bed."

...That is a bizarrely and unnervingly well informed thirteen year old.

She slinks out from under the bed, out of grabbing range of Lily.

And to human, her mask on her face as she whirls back - no sense revealing her underlying identity.

"You're a perceptive girl."

"Uh huh."

"What were you after?"

"And why should I tell you?" she asks, an amused curl to her words.

"Because I clearly have things you want."

She laughs, lightly. "And I can just take them, little girl."

She tilts her head. "Not if it's the cloak."

More surprise shows in her body than she'd like.

Voice dangerous: "Your parents should've warned you not to play with fire."

And she meets Lily's gaze, diving into her mind -

Nothing - a shallow seeming of a polite, helpful girl, enough to satisfy glances but not enough to fool a deep dive -

Not a wall, under - nothing firm, nothing that can be battered against, nothing that can be tricked or gone around or dismantled -

A black hole, a consuming darkness not too far behind her eyes -

Bastet yanks back into her body before she can cross the event horizon, heart jumping, feeling rather more like a cat who just poked something unexpectedly terrifying than she likes to.

Lily crosses her arms. Her body language is casual, her mostly neutral - but her eyes are enraged.

"If you're done being rude..."

...She inclines her head. "You're more than I'd guessed."

"What do you know of the cloak?"

"You're the intruder, here. My questions get answered first."

"What do you want with the cloak?"

"Passing unseen."

"Now, again - what do you know of it?"

"It lets you pass unseen."

Bastet snorts. "Alright, fine. I'll play nice if you do."

"We'll see."

"Why this cloak and not another?"

A little shrug. "It doesn't seem to have the drawbacks of other cloaks and it's possibly unique. It's an interesting curiosity."

"How did you guess I was after the cloak?"
