The Rooms of Antiquities, the pleasant female voice can be heard from the earbuds of the electronic tour guide, contain a number of peculiar objects, many of which are not, in fact, ancient. Several of them were in fact thought to be ancient until they were discovered to be forgeries, or merely more modern pieces confused for older ones.
"Thanks," he says, and then goes and sits on the ground, activating his staff and placing the change card near him. He starts to focus on his magic.
Change likes him! It also likes Sadde. It likes them both in different ways, and it sees neither of them as its master. It likes that Theo changes things so much, and it likes that Sadde changes so much.
It wants to change more stuff.
That seems pretty... simplistic, and obvious.
He comes out of the trance and hands the card back to Sadde, saying "I hope I get another chance to use it sometime."
"Thanks."
He summons Windy, asks her to oversee the process, and then looks at Fly's card. Theo's name is now written on it, so that should prevent Fly from attacking him (not that it did it last time, but still), but it doesn't guarantee perfect co-operation. He focuses specifically on getting wings, attaching to his back, not his staff, and summons Fly.
He dismisses Fly and tries again, this time specifically saying, "Fly, this time, help me to fly by putting wings literally on my back."
He tries a few more times, using varying word choices, to see if that's the problem.
"Oh."
So he dismisses Fly, puts his staff on the floor beside him, and tries it again, this time tapping Fly's card with his hand instead of the staff.
Kero shakes his head. "You still channel your magic through the staff. She doesn't have a staff, and her magic is weaker because of it."
"I can make staffs? ... Or is this one of those 'yeah, eventually' things? And is there a way to specifically stop my magic from channelling through my staff?"
"Oh, right."
He walks further away from the staff and tries again, to see if he can get it to work after one final try. He'd rather it be sooner than 'eventually'.
