"It must be convenient. Old age?"

"Doesn't happen."

"Fairies and angels have always coexisted with humans?"

"And demons, yes. Though for much of history, not more than a small handful of people had any knowledge of summoning."

"We still don't know who summoned you, I take it."

"No. It was not one of the Dread Doctors, at least. Do you know of any invisibility magic?"

"Nothing that powerful. Minor illusions, but without blood sacrifice, invisibility is out of reach."

"None of the bodies seemed especially fresh..."

"We might be coming at this from the wrong angle. What does it take to summon a fairy? Assume I know nothing about summoning."

"A closed circle drawn in most any medium, with the words 'I summon a fairy' around the edge. Large enough to stand in and on a horizontal surface."

"Drawn with any tool, on any surface? Etchings? Where was the circle, did you see it?"

"Circles are single-use only. It was on the tree stump, in blood."

"On the tree stump itself?" 

"Yes."

"I'll investigate the likely suspects later tonight."

"Try to not be too aggressive. It's very easy to send a daeva home."

"I'll be careful."

And back to work with him.

Is it time for the youths to arrive yet?

Eventually, they do. 

"Hey. How did it go with Brett?"

"Well, I think. They didn't attempt to kill me at all."

"That's...good? I don't think they would kill anyone..."

"A lot of werewolves have. Brett probably has."

She hands out everyone's copies of the book.

"It may be a good idea for some of us who have finished to go looking, now that we will be sure to remember if we find anything."
