"They've got like... I think it's six and two of those weren't me."

"That's still tripling the number!"

"My powerset is good for it and I care about it more than most people."

"It seems like a good thing to care about. Also I could maybe help figure out how to keep them comfortable?"

"Oh, that would be great, that's basically all guesswork."

"Well it'd still be a lot of guesswork but I could probably get an idea of what needs to change. It'd work well for temperature."

"Is the experience of temperature sufficiently - subjective, that you can tell if it's good or bad?"

"Yeah, though I haven't tested it a lot. Something else to test at the aquarium I guess?"

"If here's people doing research on animal senses I could help them out with that!"

"There probably are! I don't know much that could get you started on that, we looked into it very briefly with Cricket but he sees full color so we can't assume any of his information generalizes to normal cats."

"Do you think that asking the staff at Ripley's would be helpful there?"

"...not impossible but I don't know them to have any experts or people who are well connected in that area of research."

"I could also ask my biology major friends to ask their profs but that would take a while to percolate. I suppose there's no real rush, I'm going to have enough to keep me busy. It just occurred to me that I could maybe pick some low hanging fruit."

Nod nod. His smoothie's gone; he tosses his cup.

She finishes off the last of hers and tosses the cup likewise.

They go the aquarium. She experiments with some animals' senses. She checks out the monster exhibits (and experiments with their senses) She mentions to some friends that she might be interested in helping with animal research.

Katherine Vantage is, as sensors generally are, in demand. They tend to want her for monster-dense mazes so she can chain her way through the population of the dungeon looking for victims and provide a sketch of a map thereto; Traceless is often useful in those same dungeons, mowing down cyborg monkeys in an airplane hangar, tiny zombies in an indoor playground complete with ballpits and slides, assorted plant monsters in the Hanging Gardens of Babylon in a hundred and five degrees under the brutal fake sunshine, and rabid rabbits in a twisty warren.

She's not a natural sketch artist but with a ruler, a protractor and some practice she can provide maps adequate to navigation. She also experiments with using projective empathy to startle monsters into or out of choke points though that's not really her comparative advantage especially since they are putting her in dungeons with many small targets rather than a few large ones.  Still, it's good to know that she can potentially do that if it seems warranted.

She does her CPR course, and gets a selection of well-reccommended pop-sci for reading and discussion.

Backlashed Traceless is very snuggly and talkative but does not push it on suggesting she could perform CPR on him.

She's happy to read to him or discuss the dungeons or other topics. Sometimes she'll discuss them in French.. She also takes to wearing a tank top and shorts under her practical dungeon clothes for more skin contact.

He just divests himself of his shirt entirely but shorts are a good idea, he'll take up the wearing of shorts. It's especially good in the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, wow.

...Well this is a positive result of the miserable heat. She mostly won't take her outer clothing off in the dungeon itself but she'll make an exception for this one. Because of the heat.

It's wretched. The snuggles afterwards are pretty sweaty, though someone's equipped their guiding tent with a big fan.

The big fan is appreciated. The snuggles are also appreciated even if sweaty.

"Being really sweaty improves efficiency a little bit because it's a fluid," Haru says between sips of Gatorade. "But only a little."
