Enara nuzzles Jisa again, who lifts her head and gives a tired smile.

:So. You got questions about Valdemar, or our world in general, or Jisa?:

:Is it just humans and horse-people?:

:No, we've actually got quite a number of other species! Though humans are by far the biggest population. We've got lizard people, although not in Valdemar, and - other kinds too, but I know less about them:

:Neat. And none of these people are enslaving each other?:

:Hmm. Not systematically, at least. Humans enslave other humans in some other countries, and I don't know of anything specific with humans enslaving other species but I could believe it happens. ...The hertasi are servants to the Tayledras people, but I wouldn't call them slaves, they seem happy with the situation and I'm pretty sure they could leave whenever they felt like. Legend says that a mage created their species a long time ago, and that they're made to want to be servants, which is sort of a dubious thing to do but I don't think it's slavery per se:

:I guess it's at least not as bad as elemental slavery:

:No - I can believe our world has things in it worse than that, there are a lot of countries with different practices, but not that in particular:

:I don't suppose you can tell me anything about the war you're maybe going to have?:

:Hmm. It's - not really in my authority to decide to tell you, but then again, I don't think our chain of command took into account that I might end up in another world where there's absolutely no chance of things I tell you getting back to, um, our enemy and his spies. Let me think about it a moment: She goes thoughtfully silent.

Maurabel waits, looking occasionally at Jisa to see how she's recovering.

Jisa is sitting up now, looking sheepish.

:So the thing is: Enara says eventually, privately to Maurabel, :that - Jisa isn't cleared to know, not as much as I know. And if I tell you I should probably tell her - which maybe I should, it's relevant to decisions about what to do here, but, I don't know...:

:Who is - cleared to clear her -:

:The King, I suppose. Or Treven, but he's away from Haven:

:Okay. Uh - I have an idea for how to use local magic to travel like that but I don't know if it will be more efficient than Jisa's thing even if it works:

:Oh! Tell me about your idea, though?:

:It's not something I could do alone, I haven't pitched the other party on it yet:

:Mmm: Enara doesn't press further. :I don't think Jisa can try again before tomorrow, but it might be more efficient once she's had a practice round. What's the plan for us now? I can be less conspicuous than you'd expect but I doubt I'd fit into wherever you live:

:Yeah, no, I don't see where I'd put you. - do I have to feed you, I was really stretching things before Jisa and Wood started earning money and I don't think even with that added I can feed someone your size even if all you eat is hay:

:Oh, no, I can eat grass if there's any of that around, or some other kinds of plants too as long as you warn me if any of the local plant life is very poisonous:

:Uh, I know where people graze their animals but if you go there they might try to catch you:

:I'm hard to catch, though it might be better not to risk it, I guess:

:They'd have magic - do you? Besides telepathy?:

:- It's complicated. Sort of. And we're quite resistant to magic, our world's kind at least:

:How is it complicated? - if you need to test that I can try stuff, I have most elements:
