:It is risky. She could get a bunch at once if she went for the university collection at the right time, though:

:Does she have a plan for that yet:

:Do you think she needs more resources than, er, all of us here, to pull that off:

:Uh - to get a batch from school, no. But people have noticed that elementals are getting taken, even though they don't know how, and are working on ways to prevent it, some of which might conceivably work, so further operations - or just later operations even if she doesn't do much now - will be harder:

:- So we should be in a hurry, if we can pull that off?:

:It'd help. Though if you can get more people together who know how to do more things that might allow further heists just fine:

:Mmm, gotcha. Getting more people together is doable, I think, but - not from Valdemar necessarily. And she'll need to be more efficient than that at the Gate trick for it:

:Yeah, she didn't tell me that she might pass out or I might have brought another elemental along to haul her back:

:Oh, she'll be with it enough to ride me in a few minutes, she's just very tired:

:I didn't want to ask if horse people are normally ridden:

Mental chuckle. :Fair enough. The answer is that normally we don't let anyone ride us except our Chosen. Sometimes we make exceptions, if it's important enough. Anyway, hmm, I'm trying to think what else I should fill you in on. What did Jisa tell you about Gifts in Valdemar, other than mage-gift?:

:She has some others. The one that lets her talk telepathically, for one, and I think she uses a different one to prevent elementals from reflexively killing their masters:

:Oh, probably Mindhealing. There are others that Jisa doesn't have, but that other people do. Fetching lets you move objects without touching them, either instantly from one place to another or gradually. Healing fixes physical problems, illness and injuries. Bardic is like Projective Empathy but with music. Firestarting is rare, but it's exactly what it sounds like. Hmm, trying to think what I'm forgetting...:

:Jisa can start fires. There's a separate firestarting gift?:

:Yes. It's odd, isn't it? It seems to just be more specialized, takes less energy for a given amount of fire:

:Huh. Well, our elements are Fire, Water, Earth, Air, Ice, Lightning, Glass, Wood, Adamant, Shine, Shadow, and Stone, which are mostly what they sound like:

:Mmm. You mentioned the university - are you a student?:

:Yeah. A lot of people my age and younger are mages, these days, and the university takes ones who seem sharp and have more than a handful of elements:

:Mmm. Why people your age and younger in particular?:

:There were already occasionally mages, but some people discovered that if you eat seaweed while pregnant your baby will most likely be a mage. They started selling it and most people can afford enough to throw at least one or two per family:

:Huh. And how did Jisa meet up with you in particular?:

:She freed a Stone, who was recaptured by someone else before he could fly away. They resold him to the university, which has a large collection, and the elementals there know me and she learned I existed through them:

Enara nods, which looks a bit odd on a horse. :I see. She must feel bad about him getting recaptured:

:I think so:
