"But like, presumably teleportation magic existed before 1997 and you had a perfectly serviceable name for them then, so why change it?"

"It was 'ferries' and people of particular dialect kept offending fairies."

"Fascinating that the release of Harry Potter coincided with the rise of wokeness like that. Well, assuming witch wokeness progressed at the same rate as muggle wokeness. How does gender and sexuality even work in a whole parallel society where men are apparently rare enough that being one counts as a special perk?"

"I do not know what Ms. Rowling or her arc are doing, and as far as I know everyone speaking English calls them portkeys. Lots of witches like girls, or share boyfriends, or date non-witch boys. A weird number of witches are originally boys and then do not take the perk to be a boy and are girls after, fewer the other way round - not none though. Witches who are not trying to have boy babies will tend to have girl ones, if they are also witches - possible to have nonwitch babies, if they are not doing magic about it, those are boys half the time."
