The next day Jaeha doesn't have any dungeons scheduled, since they're taking it slow at the beginning, but what he does have is his first therapy session. Remote, naturally, because he doesn't want to run the risk of feeling tempted to mind control his therapist, that'd be wholly counterproductive.
Ren has weekends off, because she is a schoolteacher, and on request can identify a good weekend for her son and his boyfriend to visit!
"I have never met the parents and I am beginning to understand what the fuss is about."
"Tell that to my itemised list of my thirty-five worst flaws from the perspective of mothers as a class."
"I did not, that sounds like it would be dreadful to all involved. By which I mean me."
"That's what I thought but it might not have been a guarantee, considering. Anyway, she will love you, she would love you even if you were less lovable because she's easygoing but in fact also you're great and I'm lucky to have you and she will acknowledge that."
He is going to explode. Haru will cause him to blow up. It's insane.
"I love you," he sighs after the kiss.
"Hello!!! Come in, come in, oh look at you, you look so happy - it's lovely to meet you, Kang-san -"
"It's lovely to meet you, too, Swan-san," he says, bowing perhaps a little too deeply, nervously. "Do you prefer speaking Japanese or English? I can do either."
She bows back and bounces upright again. "Oh, if my accent in Japanese won't bother you then let's go with that! We're in Japan!" She sounds like she hasn't gotten less excited than a weeb on spring break in Harajuku in the last fourteen years about being in Japan. "Can I get you anything to drink?"
Aaaaahhhh social scripts.
"Anything is fine." You idiot. "Juice if you have any?" Somewhat better.
Aaah.
Ren pours Jaeha a glass of carrot juice and Haru a glass of apple and sits down with a blend of both for herself. "So what's new with you guys, I have been getting markedly fewer texts from my son and I know that's a good sign but it's not an informative sign."
"Well, I'm not sure what's old in order to catch you up on what's new," he says, looking at Haru.
