"Don't mention it."

The room has its own bathroom. It's tastefully decorated, if a bit bare compared to the rest of the house. Stephen tells them that they can rest for as long they want and indicates where they can find him if they need anything.

Well, the current plan is that they'll be staying for two days, probably, so they won't put anything in drawers or anything. They will freshen up a bit, but the whole point of coming here was to meet the family, so after that they'll head back downstairs.

Jamie looks around for Franklyn once they're back on the first floor.

Alex hovers (metaphorically) just inside the room.

...He had more questions, if Temple and/or Felix is findable?

Franklyn is on the living room's ceiling. Reading something. "Hey, there! Do you wanna fly?"

Temple is available. "Hey, there. Need anything?"

"Yeah!" He tilts his head at Franklyn, "Are you manipulating gravity?"

Someone he's actually talked to for more than a few seconds, for one.

He shrugs, "I... had more questions? If you don't mind?"

"My flight is more like telekinesis? I mean, I just will my body to move and it goes." He flies down. "You do wind control, right?"

"Fluid control," he corrects, "Liquids and gasses. Usually wind, though, yeah," he adds with a shrug. "I mostly use it to fly. It's... not very good for it, compared to the other things I can use it for," he admits, "It takes a lot of power to lift a person."

"I see the problem. Maybe there is a way to make it easier to use your gift for flight. But for now, we can just use the ritual. Do you mind following me to the casting room?"

"Of course? What are the questions?"

"...Mostly just a continuation of the things I was asking when we got here? Dead zones - are those common?"

"Sure!" To the casting room! "I've tried other ways of doing it," he adds, "But I might have missed some?"

"Dunno, maybe we could get you a parachute or something? Or come up with a new ritual that lets you use your gift that way more easily?"

"We just call it a dead city. They are not common. It ever happens when someone screws up. The main problem with that one is that it infects the ground."

"We don't really know much about rituals yet. If we could do that, sure! Though the parachute idea might work, too... It would be too attention-grabbing in a city, though."

"What sort of screw up causes something like that?"

"You still could use it in a non-Earth city." He points out. "We should poke Temple about making you a custom ritual or something."

They are in the casting room. All the furniture is against the walls. Including some bookshelves that Franklyn starting looking at until he pulls out a book. "How long do you want to fly?"

"Everyone directly involved died in the accident that caused the dead city, so we can't be exactly sure what they did wrong. But likely the problem is that they wanted a building that could self-repair and expand using ambient lifeforce."

"...Is it expanding, then?"

"Is 'forever' an acceptable answer?" He leans in to peer at the book.

Nod. "It's not... It isn't going to eat the entirely Elsewhere in ten years or anything, likely not even in a century. But it is."

The writing in the book: Literally arcane.

"It is? I mean, it's not a practical answer. But I understand."
