"Easy, little brother, I've got you. Zephyrinus is dealing with the attackers. You're going to be fine."

He begins applying life threads to the wound, falling into a pattern of chanting incantations while he works.

Zephyrinus keeps dealing with the attackers, separating them from their possessions. Ice is also great for the psychological factor. Nothing zaps out the will of fighting like having ice shards under your cloths, scratching you as you struggle.

The mages will be uncomfortable and scared, and not going anywhere.

Eventually, Jaim pulls back from Ilek's injury, leaving a raw, red patch of skin - internally healed and superficially closed, but not safe to strain too much. He doesn't specialise in Life magic anymore.

"...They're all secure?" He calls out to Zephyrinus after a moment spent catching his breath. He is beyond exhausted.

"As much as I could, which is very. I am mostly, err, harmlessly tormenting them so they don't get any ideas."

He smiles, a little grimly, but mostly amused, "Likely a good idea," he agrees.

"Stay down, that's not much better than a patch job," he tells Ilek as he stands, slowly, carefully, taking discrete support from the overturned couch beside him.

"I should - find the Commander, help set up the clean up-" He takes a step, and falters, almost falling, "...Or maybe I should sit down."

"Yes. This was a really ill-timed attack." Sigh. "Do you want me to check on the Commander? You really don't look up to defend yourselves."

He nods, and huffs a laugh, "No, we really aren't," he agrees. He focuses inwards for a moment, taking some strength from the Nomad's comforting presence, and then assesses his pool. Damn.

"I think I'm using my life," he says distantly.

"...I should stop powering this translation," he realises. He pulls the runestone out, holding it out to Zephyrinus, "Give it to the Commander, or whoever is coordinating, so she can understand and translate for you," he says.

"And at least I remember the words for 'where are the enemies?'. Be careful the both of you." He takes the runestone and pats Jaim on the shoulder.

He dashes away, creating more ice covers on the way out, nothing too difficult to navigate, but easy to hide in.

"There is that," he agrees, before releasing the runestone. He leans into the touch a bit, but rights himself quick enough.

He watches him leave, then slides down the side of the couch again.

Ilek eyes him judgingly.

"...Keep watch, I'm going to try to meditate." He says, avoiding that topic entirely.

Commander Coen is still at the bottom of the stairs, alternating working slowly and carefully on keeping her injury stable and glancing up the stairs with anxiety. If Prince Ilek is killed on her watch - or General Jaim, even - well, her future would not look promising.

She is relieved when Zephyrinus comes back down the stairs.

"The attackers are neutralised?" She asks, before gaining a chagrined look as she remembers that he doesn't speak Cial.

He quickly hands her the runestone and lets her ask that question again.

She takes it, activating it with a bit of illusion. "The attackers are dealt with?" She asks, rephrasing a little, "-Where is the General? Is Prince Ilek well?"

"We dealt with the attackers, but the two are upstairs and seriously hurt."

"Damn. Would you check on the status of the battle outside? And find a healer, if there are any available, for all three of us, and hopefully for some of my people in the war room, if they survived. Though, damn, if they can't understand you-" she sighs, waving the translation stone, "I suppose you'll just have to keep playing pass the runestone. Here-" she offers it.

Alright. Zephyrinus goes outside as instructed. And while looking for the next round of pass the runestone he will deal with other mages in his ruthless manner.

There's a few still fighting near the southeast barracks - who very shortly are not. His earlier bout of freezing has reduced their numbers enough that the Cialin have been able to deal with the rest mostly on their own.

The field hospital is surrounded by wary guards, less- or uninjured, prepared to deal with any incoming enemies trying to get to the healers. Inside the semi-circle of soldiers men and women wearing pale gold starbursts on the jackets over their armour tend to the wounded, aided by some of the soldiers better trained in life magic.

A young man with an authoritative voice is doing his best to organise this chaos. When someone sees Zephyrinus overhead, they point him out to the man, and he waves up at him, trying to call him down.

He goes in that direction and gives the runestone. Once it's clearly active he reports the situation with Ilek and Jaim.

He nods seriously, calling over a healer who has been tending the more stable patients.

"The General should be able to recover enough to move on his own safely, assuming he has had the space to meditate while you were gone," he says. "The Prince will need fully qualified care, however - can you carry Kitain?" The healer he'd called over looks unenthusiastic about this idea, but resigned.

"Was there anyone else injured in command?" The organiser continues, "We can send a party to recover them."

"Besides the commander herself, I think there are some people in the war room."

He nods, "I'll send a party-" he turns to one of the soldiers near him, informing him of this plan, and the other man goes off to put one together.

"Here, the runestone," he says as he turns back, handing it to him.

And that was a round of pass the runestone. He will do some more tidy up and wait to go back.

A party quickly forms, including eight soldiers, two carrying Artefacts, and a quartet of mages, including Kitain, who one of the soldiers picks up - one of his legs is splinted. They head out of the perimeter of guards, wary for any remaining enemies, and make their way to the command center.

Once there they split up, two of the healers taking the same four guards to the war room, while the others take the back entrance, finding Commander Coen in the hall. One of the healers in this party kneels down to take over healing her wound. She nods appreciatively at Zephyrinus, and then gestures up the stairs.

They head up, finding Jaim meditating, while Ilek watches their surroundings, carefully not paying attention to his partially healed wound. The healer goes to Ilek's side immediately. The soldiers go to secure the floor.

Jaim opens his eyes at their approach, slowly coming back to himself. He holds out a hand for the runestone when he sees Zephyrinus - he's recovered enough mana to power it for a little bit.

"Has the fighting died down?" He asks.

"It has, it was already nearly over when I got there. How are you? Are you okay?"

"Good," he breathes, relieved.

"I'm... tired. I used up all of my mana, and probably a good six months of my lifespan on top, healing Ilek." He murmurs, careful not to let his brother hear. "No more injured than I was this morning, however," he says, "And that meditation has filled my reserves enough to power this rune for a while longer."

"And you? Are you uninjured?" He asks in return. He had spent much of the battle fighting from a distance, as far as Jaim could see, but perhaps something could have gotten through.
