She nods. "I ask in case you already had ideas for how you'd want to use your powers in conjunction with him, but that's the kind of thing you can really only learn by doing.

"I think I'm done with the questions, now. What we'll do next is a handful of simple power demonstrations which we will then escalate into more complex scenarios. We will preface some of those with explanations, but we will also introduce unpredictable elements to gauge your reactions. Are there any questions you'd like to ask, before we get started?"

"No," she says, shaking her head.

On the inside she's hoping very much not to accidentally burn anything down during these demonstrations, but. She's spent a lot of time and effort working on cutting off her fire before it burns through all of the available fuel; she's anxious, but she has prepared for this. They are expecting a baby esper with terrifying fire powers. The earlier demonstrations were easy and straightforward. This should be fine.

"Very well. I will be inside that room," she says, pointing at the wall where there's a door and a window looking into the testing area. There are a couple of people already there, looking at computers. "These walls can withstand quite a lot but please try not to aim that way. I can hear anything you say, and I'll be able to talk to you from there, too." So off she goes into that room, taking a seat at the desk that looks into the testing area. When she does, a red light above the window turns on, to signify that testing is currently in progress, and the heavy-duty fans on the ceiling are turned on. Then, five "pillars" are teleported in several feet in front of Hye-jin: one is a bamboo stalk, two are different types of wood, the fourth is stone, and the fifth is some metal. "Please start by trying to burn as much of the bamboo as you can."

"Should I be prioritizing backlash efficiency, or speed of incineration?" she asks, before she gets started, because that is a very important question, and most of the time it's more efficient to have a bit of patience when it comes to incinerating things, especially flammable things. Something being on fire is a runaway chemical reaction, after all, and a lot of the time it's better for her to act as more of a fire conductor and shepherd than 'this must burn as much and as quickly as possible.'
