"Oh. That makes sense."

Nod! "Plus, it is approximately the safest place I could be for testing things solo, which - I mean, we'll probably be doing most dungeons together, our powersets play pretty nicely with each other - but will ever come up, so. I want it to be with a lot of specialized people on hand with doctors waiting in the wings if I make a dumbass mistake or something."

He nods. "Well, let me know how it goes."

"Yep! Hopefully you will come out of a dungeon and I will have good news and we can have highly backlash efficient celebratory sex."

"I'll hold you to that."

Giggle-nod!

The basic power testing of strength and control and backlash accumulation rate is rather boring, but straightforward enough. The most interesting part is the classification of her regeneration, not because the tests they do aren't also boring, but because there's a brief heated argument over if her regen is Internopugnica, or Internotegumenta Critica, or something else. Apparently it depends on the specifics of how it handles life threatening damage, and whether it can prioritize her overall health or not, and they are not in fact going to test her for that here, because that would be ludicrously dangerous. It's noted in her file, she's asked if she'd like to keep that part of her powerset secret (she doesn't see a reason to) and they move on.

Yep, she sure can heat up these things and keep them at this temperature. She's very stable, can stretch out over large areas, and can with a bit of direction aim at specific temperature ranges besides 'inferno,' which is apparently very exciting for potential uses for assisting in recovery for rescued victims. Her range is a little above average for a combat esper, but not really notable. Her control is considered excellent, especially for a recently awakened and uncertified esper, which makes her feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

They would like her to come back after a guiding session for a practical evaluation for combat and then demolition, but already they're very happy to already assign her A-ranking, based on her flexibility and control alone. The way this break between testing mysteriously coincides with Tae-gun finishing his dungeon is not lost on her, but is really just practical. She can have multiple rounds of celebratory guiding sex, she's fine with this.

Tae-gun does say "told you". However, he doesn't say it in a smug way; just in a, well, my predictions were vindicated way. She is at minimum A-rank.

Anyway yes he is so down for celebratory guiding sex.

Eeeeeheeheehee, he is such a great partner~

She is zeroed out by the time she needs to head off to do practical testing. Here she is, ready to display her combat and demolition abilities! What would they like her to blow up for them?

"Before anything, Kim Hye-jin-shi, can you give me a description of how you feel your powers could be best applied in dungeon situations?" asks the person in charge of leading her through testing.

"Monster extermination, environmental demolition, and some protective and sensor capabilities in a localized defense. I have high hopes for one day achieving mobility applications, but am not currently capable of safely leveraging my powers for these purposes and would not want to rely on them in a dungeon environment," she answers, in a business-like tone.

"Protective and sensor capabilities, can you elaborate on both of those?"

"So my exothermic control has a sensory element, I can tell when there's a disturbance or change in areas I have extended my power's reach over? This has limited uses when it comes to intelligence gathering, but I can use it to set up a perimeter and tell if anything or anyone has crossed it." Uh, they're going to think wall of fire, explain that it does not have to be wall of fire. "Without the perimeter being necessarily hazardous, I do not need to make things particularly hot in order to have reach over them."

"And when you say protective you do mean causing the perimeter to be hazardous?" she clarifies.

"Yes," she agrees, nodding. "Though technically speaking, it's more efficient for me to heat up in response to something sensed instead of, say, making a wall of fire that I then hold for an extended period of time."

"Do you believe you have the reaction time for that?"

"Yes. Especially if I set up multiple layers of an exothermic perimeter, the outer one can alert me that something's happening, and by the time the inner one is touched I will be able to respond."

She writes that down. "How would you use your power in a scenario of encountering a monster in melee combat? We'll run practice scenarios and drills, I just want to have a good sense of where you personally feel your strengths and weaknesses are and what strategies occur to you naturally. It's fine if you're not confident in them."

"In melee combat with myself, or engaged other professionals in the dungeon?" clarifies Hye-jin, because those are very different things.

"Tell me what you'd do in both cases," she replies easily.

"So my major concerns in those situations would be collateral damage; if the monster is attacking me personally, that's only sort of a problem, because I'm just as capable of hitting them at that distance as they are, with more precision when they're close to me, and I'm fire resistant and furthermore have regeneration. Though I do want to stress that, regeneration or no, I feel if I'm in melee with something, something has gone wrong, and it's to be avoided if at all possible." If she could just have her entire esper career without leveraging her regeneration abilities for anything but kinky sex, that'd be ideal, actually. Probably it won't happen, but that's the goal.

"It's with other professionals in the dungeon engaged in melee combat that I'd be afraid of hurting them; ideally I'd want to try and distract or blind the monster to let my colleague gain distance for their own safety, before then going full power."
