He flies!

He can't do a lot of his most extreme twists and spins and so on with this thing on without straining things pretty badly, but the tamer stunts still work alright and 'basic' flying is perfectly comfortable.

"Let me go get a dummy on there and see how that works out."

Good idea.

He will fly with a dummy strapped in. It slows him down a bit and feels weirder. He doesn't try anything particularly bold.

"You don't have to worry about damaging it, that's what it's for."

It's floppy! And dragging at the air!

He steps up the moves, though.

The rigger assesses the dummy's condition and whisks it and the harness away.

Well, that was less fun than he had hoped. Maybe it will be better with someone who he can feel the joy of flight from instead of a stupid dummy.

Meksi, you said something about auditions and concept art and scripting?

"Mm-hm, do you want to look at concept art on the pocket everything or should I ask them to bring it to your room? They're doing some auditions with actors who have relationships with the studio over the next few days, you can sit in on those or meet them after they've done them. Script draft is due in six weeks but those run late a lot."

Pocket everythings are too small to see anything! The second thing. It's probably good to meet people. Is there a more detailed script outline yet?

"They're still workshopping it. They need to go through a lot of ideas and filter for the best ones. You can tell them which concept art you like and they can iterate from that theme."

Okay, that sounds good. I'm not the last word still, right? But that's fine if I have at least some kind of say.

"Right, you can be overridden but they'll pay attention."

I don't know what I might reject until I see it. Maybe if they want me to act in a really un-Draak-like way?

"Like what?"

Acting humble and timid? Running away unless I'm completely outclassed? Giving up Treasure without a very good reason? There probably should be a convincing reason I want or need my co-actor and can't just go off on my own.

"Oh, you don't think you'd just - help them out if they needed you?"

"Okay... I'll tell the writers."

I might help them if I expected them to be useful. Or valuable. Or if they were my kid. Or if it was my job. But not just because they exist? That seems strange.

Meksi nods. "They can probably write in reasons like that."

Draak don't do the collectivist cooperation thing too often. If your neighbor dies because they were unfortunate or stupid, that's life.

"I'm not a writer so I don't know if they're going to do this," she touches her hair, "but often they like to write movies so the characters learn important lessons by the end, should they not have your character, uh, learn to do the collectivist cooperation thing?"

I'm not sure. It would depend how they did it. They could make it seem like I am becoming Amentan instead of Draak. That would be offensive. Or it could be more... Learning to work together with aliens, which is gaining something.

"Okay, I can tell them that."

I want to read whatever they come up with and maybe veto it. Now I'm worried.
