… Somehow she seems to have already eaten her food and is excusing herself from her friends and leaving the cafeteria?

What a surprise. They catch up with her.

Library! She's talking to Norma and asking where to look first, which are probably the more promising of the unfortunately-not-neatly-indexed books.

And Norma, who has been doing some research of her own all morning, provides some more books for them.

Theo will attempt to enjoy himself while doing it!

It's not a whole lot of fun. These books are often handwritten and in dead languages and even having dictionaries and some translations on the margins it's still terribly boring.

Theo will attempt not to look super super bored and like his soul has been sucked out of him by the end of it, in that case!

Well soon they have class again anyway.

And that goes by and Theo continues to try to be at least passively somewhat cheerful!

And when they get to the library: "I found the symbol's meaning."

"Ooh?"

"It refers to a prophecy," she starts, grabbing a huge tome.

"—does not sound good."

"Is it one in which the world ends, something like that?"

"– Are apocalypse prophecies common?"

"Somewhat, yes."

"It speaks of the rise of the Anointed One, who will bring the end of days."

"Yay," says Eva, flatly. "My first apocalypse."

"The wording is a bit more precise," she says, and translates: "And there will be a time of crisis, of worlds hanging in the balance. And in this time shall come the Anointed, the Master's great warrior. And the Slayer will not know him, will not stop him, and he will lead her into Hell. Five will die, and from their ashes the Anointed shall rise. The Brethren of Aurelius shall greet him and usher him to his immortal destiny."

"So does Hell typically mean, just, a demon world? And is the Master a typical figure, someone you've heard about before‚ likewise for the Brethren of Aurelius?"

"Usually, but I think it was allegorical in this case. And I'd never heard of the Master before. This is a book about the Brethren, they are vampires who worship the Old Ones, the first demons to walk the Earth."

"Allegorical like, what, leading me into temptation and evil?"

"Or death."

"Does it actually mention that he'll bring an apocalypse – and is this actually 'he' or is this like, archaic generic 'he' – or just the immortal destiny part?"

"The Master is the one who will bring an apocalypse with the Anointed One's help. It might be an archaic generic 'he,' but the Master wants to bring the Old Ones back."
