"I can do basic stuff like taking out the trash and washing dishes. I'm a pretty fast cleaner, and I usually do the cooking at home. I can get groceries? I'm not sure what else there is, this place is pretty different from home."

"Do you know gardening? There are some other buildings in the lot that we don't really use because they need to be renovated. And they are currently mostly used to store furniture that had been stored for longer than I have been alive."

"I can do gardening, yeah. What do you want it to look like?"

"Primarily, I would like some of the less used parts of the property to look less... well they are abandoned pretty much, so just maintaning them is good enough, but feel free to improve them as you wish."

"Felicia, are you busy? You can show me the areas Katur is talking about so he can get back to work."

"Not at all, I came here because Fernanda's research was at a point where I couldn't help. I think it's kind of late to start gardening today, but you can start tomorrow morning then. Follow me."

Felicia leads him dowstairs through a backdoor.

"I don't have to start now, but you can't just garden, without any prep work. You need a plan."

"Oh? I actually don't know much besides how to superspeed mowing the lawn when I'm bored. The former caretaker moved five years ago after the dead city got closer. When we first moved it was an unexplored jungle and the house was barely liveable," Felicia says, but with a smile.

The lot is pretty big, they prioritized keeping the walls clean off vines and make the swimming pool usable again. The vegetation in some places is too thick to navigate through, there is a shed that is barely visible from amidst some thorny bushes. This small tree is half-way dead and the weeds that are killing it are going to take nearby vegetation as well. This hut is more covered in vine than paint. There is plenty to do. There is a pretty nice orchard though and most flowering plants still look pretty when untamed.

"Basic pruning and weeding should be easy. You'll have to get everyone to put in requests for kinds of plants to include." 

"I will, I do know Felicia's general preferences. Katur is going to at some point divide the lot and sell, so maybe nothing hard to uproot? But that isn't really a major concern just a plan for the future. Oh, and there are some very interesting Elan plants altered for gardening, tomorrow I can show you the pool, there are lily pads, except in multiple shapes."

"Sounds good. What else can I help with, besides this?" 

"This already quite enough, I think we are going to teach you sorcery at some point, but that is a large time scale project... don't worry too much, Fernanda just wants to make sure how is the best way to treat you before doing things like asking for your help."

"She's amazing. I don't think I've met anyone who wants to change things got the better like she does."

He looks over the grounds.

"Should I focus on planning the gardens?"

"Fernanda is amazing." Felicia agrees.

"We will be thankful for anything you do for us."

So Scott focuses on planning the garden, and eventually goes to sleep.

And the next morning people are apparently out and about when Scott wakes up. He doesn't sense the smell of breakfast.

Scott looks for Fernanda.

She is here, writing down several notes and comparing them. "Good morning, Scott. I don't think anyone mentioned that we sleep fours hours a night?"

"No, not yet. That sounds convenient. Magic?" 

"Yeah, because Felicia and I are sorcerers and Katur is augmented. We don't have breakfast early, so if you still want to cook for us you can."

"Okay! Something sweet or savory?" 

He makes his way kitchen-wards.

"Sweet. I will show you where everything is."

What do they have? Fruits, sugar, flour?

They have all these things (some of the fruits are unfamiliar, but Fernanda can answer about them) they lack a microwave but have other appliances.

Which of these fruits is sweet but a little sour? He's feeling like pancakes. Do they know pancakes?
