"Anyway in general the principle is that things are secured against baseline humans, and the best way to break in is by not being one. Skylights, third-story windows, balcony doors, places you shouldn't be able to get to have worse security. In a big building, someone somewhere is nearly guaranteed to have left a window open a crack somewhere no one could reasonably get to it."

"Makes sense. - I'm not immediately sure what the best way to get up to a third-story window is, though, most of the time. I'm OK at climbing but I still need something climbable."

"There're grappling hooks in the back though that's admittedly loud and often a bad idea. I've heard there's a simple spell for it but I dunno if it's the Catholic compatible kind or not."

"We can check. Be good to know more about what our options are on that front. I keep wishing we'd done more stuff last year, and then remembering that we did like a million things last year, and that you can't actually pick up everything you're ever going to need to know in one, but - I really hope things settle down soon so we can get back to regular training stuff."

"No kidding. Have you slept this week?"

"I stayed home from school today and mostly slept. Before that I was kinda running on - closer to empty than I really should be, the point where even I stop being tempted to say 'I'll sleep when I'm dead' and start worrying that I'm, like, putting other people in danger by trying to juggle too many things and not making sleep enough of the things."

"An important thing about war is - you can't ever be running at rock bottom when the world isn't ending, because you've gotta somehow still be on your feet if it gets worse."

She nods solemnly.

"...we really need more people who can do things."

"We really, really do."

"I guess the Bureau people are something, at least."

There is, in fact, a security guard on duty at the museum.

"I'm Officer Stanley and this is Officer Taylor," says the Bureau woman who has been tailing them. "We're investigating illegal dumping in this area and we need to do a sweep of the museum. You don't need to call your boss, but if you'd like to call mine to verify my credentials, I'm happy to wait."

The museum guard would like to do that, yeah. Can't be too careful when people come by in the middle of the night.

They wait with him at the front desk.

Alex watches the mummy girl in her room for 90 seconds and then quietly rounds the corner from the security staff's office.

The seal is still in the mummy exhibit, most of it in a single large piece resting over Ronnie's body. The other pieces have fallen down under him, but they're all still there.

It's here.

He waits for Karen before he reaches for it, just in case more bullshit magic happens and Ronnie awakens now or something.

Karen reaches the mummy exhibit and stands by.

He puts a facemask on just in case and takes the pieces of the seal.

Nothing horrible happens.

Elsewhere Officer Taylor sees something moving outside and taps Officer Stanley on the arm.

They mention this to their radios and head out.

That's probably fine, the museum seems safe enough right now.

"Look like something we can put back together?"

"....looks it? But if there's a tiny piece I'm not finding then I guess we're out of luck - I guess we can assemble it here and check -"

" - yeah, that might be best. You wanna do it, or - I dunno if bouncing what you have to Wishbone will make it go any faster - "

"Can't hurt." He has a little bit of a headache again but that's probably because he's watching the mummy, Michael, the Bureau team in the woods, and Karen all at once, he doesn't normally try that even when no one's done life-draining magic at him. He adds Wishbone into the loop.

Officers Stanley and Taylor will notice a vampire walking alongside a teenage girl. The vampire seems to be the one leading her wherever they're going.

Figures. They head in and fire their vampire tasers.
