She is sitting in the library, studying. It's her most common pastime, by hours; spending time with her sister is more enjoyable but Jaromira prefers to socialize more broadly and Katarzyna would only get in the way. This is better on net; the two of them share a room, so it isn't as though her sister's time is entirely hogged by the other girls who call this boarding school "home." Or at least "prison." Katarzyna doesn't mind it, though; the school library is excellent, and basic manners and care for the books has endeared her to the librarian to a sufficient degree to lubricate the interlibrary loans process when there's something she wants to read that they don't have.
Or something similar, yes.
It'd be so tempting to look. I'd make a lousy Orpheus. And we'd have to hope there's a rule that you can't accidentally kill yourself just by inspecting your own starscape!
Or I self-modified to be resistant to extreme beauty, with slightly less lethal amounts of magic.
That would work too! Hopefully! Hypothetically! You know what I mean.
I shall not be too distraught if I only manage end-death levels of beauty.
That would be the most beautiful result of all no matter the thread count on your immaculately embroidered skirt.
That is so true. Wise words, Isabella.
This is Jaromira, Katarzyna just smushed her face into a pillow and is making a high-pitched noise. I'm not sure what you said to prompt it but she mentioned you like praise so I thought you should know.
I do! It was a text heart.
I imagine there's context.
You can scroll up, it won't harm you.
Better safe than sorry!
A moment later:
You two are adorable, and I mean that in the most non-patronizing way possible.
In my expert opinion it is the cuteness that is causing my sister to make noises.
I don't suppose you have a little tape recorder handy.
Let me see what I can do.
This does not urgently call for a reply. Isabella waits.
After a few minutes:
I can't figure out how to text a sound file, what's your email?
Isabella sends it.
Jaromira emails her a sound file of someone squeeing into a pillow.
I'm really glad Katarzyna has you.
So am I!
She's better off in ways that aren't just NRE or other standard relationship benefits; she...always knows intellectually that pulling a Norman Borlaug would be a good thing but you make it more attention-getting compared to, like, whatever interesting problem is right in front of her.
