Tōkan shows up at the Yamadas' house at 3:45PM on Sunday. He thought about bringing flowers but he's absolutely sure Inori would find this baffling; instead, he brought chocolate.
He rings the doorbell.
"Thank you," Tōkan replies. He takes his shoes off by the door and walks in.
Kuroji leads him to the living room, where Harutsugu is sitting in a chair reading a book.
Oh, are they playing that game? He is going to be so charming Harutsugu is going to forget his family name in a jiffy.
"Please call me Tōkan," he says, bowing respectfully. "And, here." Below the box of chocolates he has a gift-wrapped book, which he offers to Harutsugu.
He blinks in surprise and accepts the gift, then looks up at Tōkan again. "Thank you, you didn't have to. 😯"
"I asked Kuroji-san what to get you." Harutsugu-san... will also appreciate straightforwardness, if Tōkan doesn't miss his guess. "Because I want to charm you and impress you. I am serious about your son."
—he puts the gift aside and leans forward. "No gift for Kuroji? 🧐" he asks, leaning into the threatening persona again.
"I wanted to, but Kuroji-san doesn't like receiving gifts, so I suggested helping with dinner tonight after Inori-kun and I come back."
"Ah, yeah, my father is often pretty busy and doesn't come home until very late so I've learned my way in the kitchen."
Kuroji walks over to Harutsugu, shaking his head with a fond smile on his face, and plants a kiss on Harutsugu's forehead.
"Inori-kun and I haven't actually been on a proper date yet," because they're not actually dating, "and I want the first one to be great so he'll never let go of me."
Inori shows up at the top of the stairs then. "What's with the noise—oh. You."
Tōkan looks over his shoulder at Inori then stands up, beaming. "Inori-kun." He offers the box of chocolates. "This is for you."
