Macalania Wood is known as one of the most beautiful, most serene places in Spira. Crystals glimmer on every branch, pools of water like lustrous gems collect under huge, blue trees.
Yuna couldn’t admire its beauty. She was barely affected by the gentle wind, the soft music of the water. Her heart was broken, the remnants barely enough to keep her going.
She put one foot in front of the other, following her guardians, tears gently dripping down her face.
-and Auron takes it, stroking the back of it with his thumb.
How he cares for this girl, who should've had a father who was here and not a hero.
(As if Anri needed any more proof Yuna had a good heart. People without didn't inspire this kind of love and loyalty.)
After a moment, Yuna pulls away, smiling at her guardians, her family.
"Thank you."
Yuna smiles at them all.
She then excuses herself to make herself comfortable on the ground, to sleep.
Lulu also settles close, one hand on Yuna.
“Has she told you? What she lost?” Lulu asks Anri.
Anri shakes eir head. "I can almost certainly say the answer is 'too much'."
"Before all this began. 10 years ago. She lost her mother to Sin. And then her father became High Summoner." Lulu doesn't have to explain what that means.
Anri curses quietly in Al Bhed. "I- yeah. Too much. And she still wants to save the world that took all that from her."
"She believes that she owes the world her life, that she was not meant to have one. Wakka and I, we fought so hard for her to have a good childhood, but then the priests discovered her talent. She never got to enjoy the best part of being young." Lulu stroke's Yuna's hair sadly.
"I had a marvellous childhood, and my teenage years were free. All because I was not a summoner. So for Yuna, I gave up my life. I have been a guardian for many years, but Yuna will be my first success. And my worst failing."
"You're really giving up on Yuna that easily? We've got time. There's got to be another way to defeat Sin."
"I will never give up on her. But her will is so strong. Maybe that was my failing, I was too encouraging of a big sister." Lulu laughs a little, though it seems sad.
