"Customary on my Earth to summon demons gagged. Never been an exception to make the offer."

"It's impressive demons keep answering summons. And I thought the laws in Valinor were annoyingly restrictive."

Shrug. "There's lots of demons. Somebody'll always finds a reason to keep showing up."

"Well, once we have interdimensional transit Limbo's all yours. Our dimension's associated Limbo too, though that might be less urgent because it's full of the kangaroo lizards and also it's been sixty millions years since their population grew so they actually kind of have enough of everything by now."

"Thanks."

"Thank you for stopping Melkor."

"You're welcome."

"I can find you some names on this list who, once they know, will be so glad you did."

"That's - good to know, I guess - I'm not really handling briefing people as they wake up, your alt sent me some people to help with that -"

"I'm not saying you should be giving a talk a hundred million times or whatever their incarnate population was, just that once it is fixed you should forgive yourself - and I'm going to need to tell my alt the same thing, what a nightmare for all of you-"

Sigh.

He sits down and starts looking through the list.

It's a long list. Cam's about halfway through it.

He doesn't actually know fifty million people well enough to guess how they'd react to being resurrected here instead of back on Valinor, but he knows a sizable chunk of them that well and starts noting names as he goes.

Cam takes notes as he goes.

"I'm mostly looking for people with math and engineering expertise it'd take even my father a long time to catch up on, and manufacturing expertise since we're going to have some things we have to build by hand - your world won't have anyone specializing in demon-proofing anyway... and I was hoping for anyone who could talk him down from working himself to death but looks like that falls to me and Tyelcormo, if my mother's already alive."

"Is she?"

"First thing I asked Edie to check. Her family would probably have been prioritized as useful occupations; she and my grandfather and my aunts and uncles and cousins on that side are all back."

He keeps reading. "Are these ages?"

"Yeah, I don't want to bring back little kids before their parents so I put ages in the list."

"...what age do Elves get chipped at, in your world?"

"...they're born that way. Grows in during pregnancy. Darndest thing. Are yours chipped in some less bizarre fashion?"

"...yes, we get them demonically installed at three or four, earliest it's safe - I guess that couldn't be the answer in your world - they're born that way -"

"It's really weird and I don't have a satisfactory answer for how it works."

"Good thing, though, it means you didn't lose all the young children..."

"Yikes. No. There's - there's a gap in which pregnancies I can save, if they have underdeveloped chips but they're too far along to be demonically instantiated as blastocysts and develop from there - but - no, not all the little children."
