As I understand this, if they want to go to Valinor they can walk out your door and if they want to help us with the war effort they can do that, so it's a less invasive than forking way to get some more expertise on the table."

Cam hands him a list. "Prioritized some occupations - clustered families -"

"That's sensible. We checked if my mother was back - I would expect my grandfather'd be a priority occupation, so maybe they're all back by now. That's good." And he beams at the list. "Oh, it is mostly the same people! That'll make this easier.

"That'd be nice. Bar can't sell anything magic, though, so waiting around for someone capable of helping to wander in seems like the only way to get novel magic introduced."

"Or developing interdimensional transit that can target a dimension that we know has magic that'd do the trick."

I think my fathers think that's an inside-a-century project made into a three-century one by developing only a version that is smart enough to be nonconjurable and can't be easily reverse-engineered into a version that's conjurable, but the point is that it is doable in principle."
