"Might be linked. But yeah. Put on your own oxygen mask first and all. How's your head?"

"Better. How're your aches?"

"My hands are complaining a lot. Knees aren't too happy, either."

Jenn nods. "Was there anything aside from the heatpacks and this in the backpack?" She rustles the blanket they're still wrapped in.

"There's gotta be. I know there's more heat pads..."

She goes digging through it -

And surfaces with a thermos.

"Hot chocolate!"

"-You seem very certain that it's hot chocolate and not say...tea?"

"It's what I'd pack! - Well, a me'd pack, this was probably Twelve..."

She unscrews the lid. There's a note, wrapped in a plastic bag.

"It is more effective than tea," Jenn agrees. She smiles a little at the note. "Makeshift laminate. Smart."

"Heh. Thanks!" A pause, and - "Wait, there was this, too - "

Luckily the note from Josephine's office is still intact, if a bit smudged, since she stuck it in her bra with the envelope. "I don't really understand this?" she says, handing it to Jenn. "It was in the calendar hole."

And the note from B-Twelve:

Hi Me!

This is short because you need to get to the Moment, and even if it were really long you'd totally read all of it (I know this because I am you), and you should hurry.

The Moment is (relatively) safe, so you should be able to rest once you find it.

I hope you're reading this in the truck. If you are, open the glove box, I left my journal (and more granola bars and water bottles) in there. I dunno if it'll help much, but I have some suspicions about what's going on that I don't have time to go into here. <- hint: I think B3 was lying to us.

Try not to die!

-B12 ->

And on the reverse:

Stuff!

1. Unlight damages time (widens cracks, shatters shrapnel).

2. Cracked areas increase local entropy in proportion to their 4-dimensional surface area. <- Cold!

3. The interaction between unlight and time shrapnel can be manipulated if mediated by electricity + observation.

4. The Moment is really battered. I don't know how much of it will survive another loop. I put some important stuff (last of the seizure meds, food, the viewers) in a plastic bin just outside the laundry. It has a big red X on it, and it's in the middle of the road.

5. The botfly is waking up!

"I think... I think that's the waveform symbol?" Jenn says of the note in her hand, rubs at her face. "But-" She shakes her head. "I don't know. What about your note?"

She'll hand it over. "I retract my thought about forgiving Twelve. I'm going to make her step on so many Legos - I have no idea what half that even means, except 'time travel has rules' and 'maybe we should get outside'."

Jenn reads over the note. "What even is 'the Moment', sounds like...a specific bit of time? But yeah. We should... find this truck."

"I don't know! I think the cracks are - did I explain this, I don't think I did, when I used my hand-light in the tunnel after you vanished there were these - broken bits of air. Which were healing until I hit them with a brick. So? I think? That's the timeline damage? The Moment might be - I don't know, a specific point in space-time, so we'd need to figure out how to even get there, I don't think bricks are precision instruments... I think the electricity thing is - Twelve mentioned machines that'd help with paradox in that dream."

"Hm. We should drink the hot shocolate before anything else."

"Yeah. Energy, all that. There's some granola bars, too..."

Jenn nods. "Drink. Eat. Figure out how to get out of here."

She nods, passes Jenn a granola bar, and takes a sip of hot chocolate. It's wonderful.

"We can't go back the way we came, but there's this giant hole in the ceiling we might be able to get out of? I saw some newish supports around it, someone's been building there."

Jenn nods her agreement, eating her granola bar. "They should have an exit."

"Yeah. And resources..."

"I doubt they'll be inclined to share those." Beat. "But they might be able to call someone about... Ira?"

"Yeah. Just. I don't know what the cops can do, though..."

Jenn rubs a hand over her face again. "Why do I feel like the answer is 'very little'."

"I'm not sure someone won't try - to use the botfly? Ira thought it could put Ant back..."

Jenn looks sideways at Bina. "And there's whatever's going on with your arm."

"Yeah. Rather not end up in a government lab or something..."
