VALIA WAIN DECLARED FOOLISH BUT INNOCENT, CONFESSES TO THE SAME

In a surprise outcome, the Queen's Justice, in the person of a judge enchanted to follow strictly Law, has judged that the riots and their deaths were the fault of 'Friend of the True People', and Select Valia Wain, while foolish and ignorant, did not intend any of the actual consequences and tried to avoid them, and so was not criminal. After the trial completed, on the steps of the arena with Lord Marshal Cansellarion flanking her, she gave a speech saying the same, and exhorting the crowds not to riot or take justice into their own hands. She also demonstrated she was still Iomedae's and in good standing, not ensorcelled.

This speech may be purchased elsewhere as "A True And Accurate Recording Of The Words Of Valia Wain Following On Her Trial."

This one isn't mostly being sold to individuals, but nailed to walls in major streets and outside public houses and tenement buildings.

He generally avoids pamphlets (except for some of the longer news focused ones that have established a reputation for more accurate information and less sensationalizing), but this one is in his face in a few places.

He didn’t think Valia was foolish?  It was the way the masses responded to her speech that was foolish.  Maybe he should have stayed at the trial after all, so he would know how she was being foolish so as to avoid repeating her mistakes?  Maybe she should have just emphasized the “not rioting and not taking justice into their own hands” part more in her original speech?  It would have made the test easier to pass… or wait, it was a one time test she did at the Queen’s instruction, so she’s trying to avoid imitators who would imitate her without the purpose of an official loyalty test in action.  Yes, that makes sense.  Fernando will be careful and responsible with any floor speech he makes.

Maybe all this foolishness can end soon and they can get back to making laws. One can hope. For now he has an orphan- His new son- To watch and teach. Not much time to go back to the "Cafe". He wonders if the lad will be allowed in the convention or he'll need to find a sitter who's not blatantly lazy or cruel.

It is surreal to see this sort of thing in writing. When is the big reveal that this is in fact a vast deception at her expense going to happen?
