"Yeah. We're not sure anyone besides alphas can repeat it, and it really messed Lydia up- that's the girl who resurrected him. He sort of possessed her. I think." 

"I'll have to ask one of the druids about that next time I see one."

Nod.

"The important thing with Derek will be that he's the local alpha, but he doesn't have an emissary. The alpha isn't supposed to talk to humans directly, but none of the druids are with Derek...he'll want to talk to you, but you'll have to frame being an acolyte as being an emissary." 

"I can roll with that."

"Basically, all that means is Ellayania is your alpha; you respect her, she tells to what to do, and you interface between her and everyone else. I think that works, without stretching anything too much?" 

"It's about right."

"This is kind of important, because the peace between the Hale pack and the Argents is kind of depending on the fact that most of them are dead. I don't really know what he's going to ask you, so you should probably prepare for a couple of options."

"Tell me about the Argents."

"A family of hunters. Kind of a long history, but most of it was back in France, so what matters now is that they've been killing werewolves for generations. Allison, the youngest, didn't know about the family business until a couple of months ago, and now two of the family's hunters are dead, both at the hands of a Hale." 

"Oh, great."

"Yeah. The whole past year is like that. So do you think you're ready to meet him?"

"Yeah."

In that case, she can ride along, and they'll be off.

Presumably Ellayania will fly after them?

Presumably. It is a very inconspicuous pigeon, her avatar.

They arrive outside an apartment building. 

A man appears after a few minutes. 

"Scott, nice to see you again. Who's this?" 

"Derek, this is Pascale. Pascale, this is Derek."

"Hi."

"It seems like you're kind of a big deal around here. What do you need from me?"

"I wanted to inform you of the existence of my goddess, Ellayania, and extend to you our hand of friendship."

"Your goddess?" 

He looks at Scott.

He nods.

"Not one of the local variety. She demonstrably exists."

"And what makes you think we need her here?" 

"Because this place is, to put it mildly, pretty fucked up."
