"I keep saying gods are a handy thing to have around!"

And eventually, they walk towards the druid.

"They don't want the spell until it's better, but they want to camp out here until then."

"Getting free food is a pretty good reason not to hunt, so we'll stay here," His brother adds.

"In exchange for legal aid," his mother is quick to add.

"If you wanted to play host to a sacred stone you could also keep living at home. We don't mind if you want to stay, but that's an option too."

"How would someone play host to a stone? Do we wear it?" His father seems skeptical.

"It'd be a bit bigger than that. Just take it home and then when you get hungry, you can offer a short prayer and Ellayania can create food for you right there."

"Does she have any preference for iconography? We can probably turn it into a shrine, if that's useful," his mother suggests.

"Altars at her temples are surrounded by bookshelves."

"We should take the stone and go, then. We'll need to move some stuff around if we want books near it."

His mother nods.

"Sean is right. If that's all, until the...druid...wants to try more...spells...then we should be off."

A large, polished black stone rises cleanly near their feet.

"Go, then, with my blessing."

They go, expressing their gratefulness.

Conversion: successful?

"I suppose I should get to work on that spell."

"It'd be kind of nice to have a better fix for them."

"It would be nice, wouldn't it. I'll work on that, then. I do think we made good progress today. Have a nice day, Pascale."

"Yeah. You too, Doctor."

No one bothers her that night, of course.

Scott might try to bother them the next day.

Never a bother to hear from Scott! What's he need?

"I was wondering if you felt up to meeting some local factions? There's a chance Derek will want to meet you, and I want to get ahead of that."

"Yeah, sure. Sounds like a good idea."

"Can I stop by to pick you up?"

"You know where to find me."

He arrives soon enough, parking his bike at the edge of Ellayania's domain.

"Ellayania? Can you tell Pascale I'm here?"

She shows up shortly.

"Hey."

"Hey. So I'm going to take you to meet Derek. He's the local alpha, part of a family of werewolves. They're all dead, except for his uncle Peter, who's human now, and recently came back from the dead, and Cora, his younger sister, who he thought died in a fire. He's touchy about that, and about the Argents."

"Came back from the dead?"
