"Not always, but I've been involved for less than a year and there have been a lot of dead. Recently, our main concern is the new pack and the string of murders that we don't have a great explanation for."

Pascale frowns about the dead people.

"What can you tell me about either or both of those things?"

"For the murders, you'll want to talk to Stiles. I'll introduce you tomorrow. The pack, they mostly seem to be in town to scare me and Derek."

"What benefit do they get from that?"

"I can't really talk to them, every time we meet they threaten us. Maybe someone who seemed unconnected and innocent would be safe, I don't know."

"Worth a try. Do you know where they came from, their names, any other details?"

"The leader is called Deucalion. There are two of them at our school, Ethan and Aiden."

"...That's all?"

"There's two more. They're all...different, for werewolves. They call themselves the 'alpha pack'."

"Different in what way? Please remember that unless your mother or Sheriff Stilinski are werewolves, I have met a grand total of two. Briefly."

"Most werewolves are normal. These werewolves all have unusual powers. The twins combine to form one bigger werewolf. Deucalion is really strong when he transforms, too."

Blink blink.

"Uh. Hm. I might want to wait until Ellayania can set up a bit of her domain here before talking to them, then."

"How does that work?"

Melissa sends Scott off to get dinner ready, apparently deciding that this is enough Explaining Werewolves for one night.

"Well, gods have avatars and so forth that they use to talk to people, but that's not really them. What they are, essentially, is landscape. When they claim a piece of land, it becomes part of them and they control it absolutely, right down to weather and mineral composition. I have some of Ellayania's holy earth with me, so if I find a good spot and dump it out, she can start claiming land from there. It'd be faster if I more, but," she shrugs. "We make do with what we have."

"Is the only thing that can claim a domain another god? Or should we find you a spot unclaimed by humans and werewolves, too?"

"Yeah, it would only matter if it was already another god's domain, but it might be a good idea to find an unclaimed-by-people spot just to minimize potential complications. The other thing that would happen is the terrain and biome of the area shift to the god's type. Ellayania's is fens, as you may have picked up from her title."

"I think somewhere by the river, then. I'll show you tomorrow."

"Okay!"

Is it dinner time now?

It is dinner time!

They're having casserole.

Mmm, casserole. The gist of the dish is familiar to Pascale, even if the exact recipe is not.

"So if Ellayania gets a domain around here, are we supposed to worship her?"

"That's the traditional thing to do when a god sets up nearby! But it's not obligatory or anything, she wouldn't force anyone to who didn't want to. But she's a helpful god and it would be a good way to say thanks if she does something nice."

"What are good ways to thank her? Does she want prayers, some kind of offerings, would dedicating things to her work?"

"Does he get a blessing?"

"Offerings and prayers work! She wants to know you're thinking about her. Scott can have a blessing if he would like a blessing. Scott, would you like a blessing?"
