Soon, she has mapped out most of the town.

The hospital, the police station, the school, the warehouse district, and the all important bowling alley.

The library is right where she left it.

How kind of it to stay put. She goes back inside to flip through more books.

None of the books mention anything about werewolves, but there are a few books on most topics.

World history, religion, anatomy, and physics seem well-represented.

Pascale approves of the selection, and spends the rest of the morning in the library. She's just about finished by lunchtime. She heads out to find a bench to eat her orange on.

There is a bench.

There is also a woman watching her.

Pascale flashes her a smile as she sits, then turns most of her attention to peeling and eating the orange.

"Are you new to town?"

The woman stands next to the bench, possibly waiting for the bus.

"I am! Just arrived yesterday."

"I heard. You made quite a splash. It really shook the earth underneath our feet."

She laughs softly.

"It wasn't nearly so impressive from my perspective. Odd, yes, but not earth-shaking. I'm Pascale, by the way. What's your name?"

"Marin Morrell. I work at the local high school, though I decided to step out for a bit."

Aha. She knew it.

"It's nice to meet you. Any helpful tips for a newcomer?"

"You might find it easier to make allies if you and your...friend...were more subtle. I'm sure you didn't expect anyone to notice, and most people didn't. Something to think about. Enjoy your food. I'll see you around sometime."

"I look forward to it."

Hm, vaguely ominous but not overtly hostile. A good sign? Perhaps. Her readings indicated a connection between druids and nature, so it makes sense that one of them would notice a new god showing up. Might be best to keep the size of Ellayania's domain here on the small side for now, the fact that it exists and she has a place to run to may be enough. She murmurs words to this effect in her native language, and Ellayania agrees, inaudibly to others.

Nom nom orange nom.

She can eat in peace.

Does she want to do anything else before she heads home?

Not much point heading back before the boys get out of school. She'll wander around some more.

And take a closer look at the bowling alley. It's an unfamiliar game to her. Is it open?

It is open. Fairly quiet, though.

There are lanes, wooden polished floors upon which balls roll at varying speeds, trying to fulfill their lifelong ambitions by knocking over pins.

Some do not realize their dreams.

A modern tragedy.

Aww, that's so sad!

Apparently this costs money. Fortunately, she was given some. But does she have enough?

She has enough for bowling!

How exciting. Doesn't look like that leaves her much for anything else, but she should be fine.

She will be! Ellayania's domain is big enough by now that she can produce just about anything Pascale would want. And then she can trade for favors.

Bowling! It takes her a few sets to get a feel for throwing the ball, but once she gets it down she executes perfectly every time.

And eventually, school lets out.

She should probably head back, then. She puts her ball back on the rack, changes her shoes, and sets off.

They'll be waiting for her at home.

"Hey, come on in," he says, opening the door before she can knock.
