When she's done she goes to check on decryption progress.

They're done with about half the pile of hardware and she's welcome to take it back; they're working on the rest.

"Thanks!" Back she jumps. "Here's the first half."

"Awesome." They both reach for it. 

She tips it slightly in Shuri's direction; Shuri lives here and knows the local stuff.

Shuri grins at her and then sets to processing the contents of Fury's records.

She shrugs a little at Tony, sits back down.

They read and mutter quietly to each other for a while. Several hours. Then "Okay, now we know some more about future empress Carol - not how to contact her, but I'm getting the picture of why we might want to -"

"What's up with her, then?"

"There's a lot here. Uh, Earth was the site of a proxy war between bad blue aliens and green shapeshifter aliens. In the 90s. I'd say I'm not sure how I missed this but actually I was pretty drunk for the 90s. Danvers was in the U.S. Air Force, took a hit that should have killed her, instead - there are references to 'the alien source of Danvers' and I have no idea what they mean by that -  anyway, survived, now she's absurdly powerful, manages to convince both bad blue aliens and green shapeshifter aliens that Earth is not to be fucked with..."

"Okay, sounds good. Why's she hiding?"

"She can travel through space - okay, you know what, that's nowhere near a sufficient explanation by itself, I can travel through space but I still don't go off running missions on other planets because of the speed of light - I am not clear on what her method of transit was but here she's running missions on other planets. One of them goes wrong. Runs into some kinda nasty alien precog that... has whatever interaction with you is going to cause you to cause the most destruction from there forwards..."

"You know what would be unbearably cute would be if that alien precog thinks rolling back a timeline is super destructive."

" - yeah. Yeah, that'd sure be interesting. Anyway she's quarantined."

"I guess that's responsible of her. And you'll need to do some kind of thing to unquarantine her but we're still working on that part."

"Yeah it's not clear yet, might be in one of the files we don't have yet, but apparently it's within our abilities and I don't have instructions on how to explain things to her once she's unquarantined so I guess we can assume that's not too path-dependent and then we have quite a lot of firepower. She can apparently soak up, and then deliver, the power of a star."

"If she wants a ride to one I can do that."

"All right. Between you and Stargirl and prep time - and maybe magic dogs, can the magic dog handle star levels of energy being thrown around -"

"He will be irritated with me but it won't be a problem for him."

"Wicked sunburn?"

"It might take him centuries to restore his body to its desired state, and he dislikes other states, but it's a little better than that sounds because I think he'll also find this outrageously satisfying and it's likely to advance the conclusion of our war."

"What takes centuries?"

"Maiar formulate their bodies from the atom up, by manual attention."

"Well, if they need cellular assembly tools they can let us know."

"...that's good, I'll tell them."
