She nods, and follows Raine downstairs.

Raine leads the way, calling out to Tobi, "Found her!" when she reaches the living room.

Tobi is perusing the fridge.

"Hey Bryce!  Uh, not to like, offer you some of your own food or anything, but as long as I'm getting myself something you want me to grab you a snack?"

"No, thanks."  She perches herself on the couch.

"Suit yourself.  Raine?"

"Oh, just one of the bottled sodas, if you don't mind - doesn't really matter which."

She consolidates her snacks, picks whichever one seems like the weirdest color for a soda to be for Raine, and returns to the living room.

'Weirdest' definitely seems like a hit, going by Raine's cheery, "Thanks!"

"So," Raine continues once Tobi's settled in, "Tourist traps were touristy?"

Ugh, this is so weird, half her mind is trying to suss out exactly how evil Raine is and half is still just endeared by her love of weird off-brand sodas.

“They were,” she says, putting on a cheery demeanor as best she can.  “I didn’t manage to properly meet whoever’s haunting the ghost tour, but you can’t have everything.”

"Yeah, I've mostly just heard about her from others? She's not super social apparently."

"Ah well."  She shrugs.  "Still fun.  How have you guys been?"

"Same old, same old, pretty much."

Hmm.  She has a vague intuition that it would be a bad idea to just ask Raine straight out, in front of Bryce, whether she ever gave Bryce the League's contact info, try to blow the whole thing open right away.  That sort of thing probably works better on TV than in real life.

She keeps up a veneer of small talk, keeps a smile on her face, spends the day waiting to see if she can wrangle a few minutes alone with Bryce.

Such an opportunity does, eventually, arise, when Raine steps out to check on something.

That something being, unfortunately for her, enough of a distance that she can't eavesdrop, and that she'll be gone at least thirty minutes - she'll be able to sprint back faster if there's an emergency, but she'd strongly rather not do that.

All right, here we go.

"Hey Bryce?"

"Mm?"

Hey, remember that time I was here last time and we talked in the middle of the night and you almost started crying?

Hey, I think Raine is purposely making you think everyone else in the world is evil so she's the only person you ever trust.

Hey, Raine straight up impersonated you to the League of Magical Girls so they'd think she could be trusted to look after you.

"Did Raine ever give you the League of Magical Girls' contact information?"

She shakes her head. "Why do you ask?"

Okay yeah nope this is definitely 100% fucked

"Well," Tobi says slowly, "because I gave Raine their info to give to you. I just figured she would've by now."

"You did?"

Tobi nods.

"She never said anything about that."

"She didn't even say she had it?" Tobi says. "To let you decide whether you wanted it or not?"

Bryce shakes her head.

" - Okay, look, can I say something?"
