Hear now what has transpired during the first meeting of the Committee on Safe Roads, as reported by a scribe who was present in that very room!

The membership of the Committee on Safe Roads is thus: Duchess Carlota Guimar de Chelem, lately returned from Heaven, where she in the armies of Iomedae; Avenger Raimon, beloved of Calistria, who has taken vengeance on many vile Asmodean priests who sought to interfere with the delivery of the mail; Hellspawn Llei Napaciza, whose ashen skin and curled horns betray the devil's-blood within him; Séfora the Bandit-Queen, slayer of counts; Paralictor Rosa Hèctor, Knight of Hell, brought here that all may see the futility of Hell's schemes; and Marquis Aniol Reixach de Juncosa, a spy on behalf of Lastwall who secretly worked to undermine the Asmodeans from within, now ascended to his rightful place.

The committee began anarchically, for the Bandit Queen seized the chairship and sought to lord her power over the worthy and innocent men and women of the meeting. It was clear even to the vile Hellknight that such a thing could not be countenanced; but the servant of Asmodeus nominated the Hellspawn instead to the chairship, and the Bandit Queen assented. But do not despair; by Iomedae's favor the Hellspawn realized that to take power for itself would invoke the wrath of the True Queen Aspexia III, and so it was persuaded to yield power to the Duchess of Chelem.

This matter being settled, the committee moved on to matters of business, and considered many wise proposals. These proposals included the following: that all lords be required to purchase a crystal ball, that maps be erected in all waystations, that the height of castles be increased, that men be permitted to use harsh words against lords who neglect their duties, and that those who are the victims of monster attacks be exempted permanently from taxation. These proposals passed to great acclaim, and shall be submitted to the whole Convention for a vote. The Bandit Queen proposed also that farmers have the right to kill their lords, but this proposal was soundly rejected.
