Last Oathday, a dreadful crime occurred on the streets of our very city. A young woman named Rita Grec was walking home from the market, carrying her legitimately-purchased provisions, when she was seized upon by a shopkeeper and beaten senseless! By the grace of Iomedae she was found by a relative and brought to a temple of Sarenrae, where she was restored to health by a foreign priestess.

You must surely be wondering by now what could have caused such a plight to befall an innocent woman. I will tell you! Although she was born a human, has the nature and soul of a human, and lived seventy years as a human, blessed Naima has given her youth in a new form — that of a kobold. Unlike a true kobold, she is an honest and law-abiding woman, who stole from no one and deserved none of what happened to her.

People of Cheliax! I know that the blessed Naima's powers are still new and strange. But we must not allow ourselves to be turned to violence against our fellow humans merely because of their form. We should not beat others bloody merely for having the form of a kobold, unless we are certain they have stolen, nor assume all strix are cannibals, nor treat all slips as if they had the nature of a slave. Many such creatures are our fellow humans, simply in new forms! Yes, perhaps occasionally this means we will allow a thief to slip through our fingers, but such risks are worth it, if it means no innocent has to suffer like Rita Grec.

Why didn't he think of that? That's brilliant. I mean, it might also be true, but it's brilliant.
