Werecoyotes typically only fight in full coyote form, and their coyote forms are not unusually enhanced. Their threat comes in the way they kill their young, especially if they marry humans.

Wendigos are animalistic and have little strategic ability, but a family of wendigos will often develop methods of planning that allow them to kill unsuspecting humans for years.

And here's Scott.

He returns the dogs to their cages and sits down.

"I hope we're all ready to begin."

Boss is talking = sit at attention and shut up.

"I think I'll start by asking Mr. Stilinski and Ms. Nylund if they have any questions. Stiles?"

"So, the book says that no one really knows why banshees aren't supernatural- what does that mean? They seem pretty magic to me."

"Banshees are immune to the bite of a werewolf, they can cross mountain ash, they otherwise break most rules that supernatural creatures follow. No one has come up with a good theory, and it's difficult to gather good data on banshees."

"Ms. Nylund? Anything you were wondering about?"

"Nothing in particular so far. Going over tactical considerations. Wendigos could be problematic."

"They tend to kill more frequently than almost anything else, but there are fewer of them, and they're less likely to have massive death tolls than some werewolves who lose control. They're a priority, but finding a solution to their dietary needs is probably the most useful place for a druid to focus. Hunters mostly keep the wendigo population in check."

"Banshees have some relationship with death - there was something. I can't piece it together, but Lydia feels different from the 'wolves and kamina in what feels like an important way... I'll shut up and listen now."

"That they predict death is something we know, but if you can identify the connection...it could be worth exploring, and I wouldn't mind treating it as a research project. We can discuss that later."

He goes on to give a brief summary of werewolves. Most of it matches what she can gather from Scott; the combination of layered magic, all tangled together.

The notable layers, as far as he can tell, are the infectious quality, the lupine biology,  the animalistic parasite, the ability to change shape, pack bonds, and in the case of alphas, memory magic.

"The parasite?"

"The werewolf mind. It doesn't just bring out your own anger and violent urges, Scott."

Here's a short digression on how only humans can use magic. Banshees, kitsunes, and various other things are limited to whatever magic exists in their bodies.

Gren pays particular attention to the memory magic and the limits of it, how to tell when it's been done perhaps?

"Alphas have no finesse. The gap in memories is obvious, as is the presence of implanted ones. They mainly use these powers to incapacitate their enemies with a flood of new memories, and to lock away information they care about."

"Still not something I ever want to experience. I'm going to try to remember something that will hopefully block it."

Nod. He continues.

Wolfsbane is this plant; werewolves react as though allergic, losing control of their shift with prolonged contact, and if consumed, can have even stranger effects.

Moonstone, like mountain ash, can function as a barrier against werewolves.

He goes on to name other plants and minerals that have assorted effects on supernatural creatures.

She writes down the most relevant ones, especially ones that affect multiple types.

She receives a fairly thorough summary of European plants. He mentions that North American plants require further study, and he'll give her the notes and books he has on those.

"If you're going to learn any magic, Ms. Nylund, I would advise learning to create a mountain ash barrier. Very useful for keeping out most supernatural enemies, and serves as a way to trap them as well."

"...The basic basics are probably a good idea, even though this is why there are specializations. I'll learn the mountain ash at least, but if you need an immediate tactical projection of force I'm your girl."

"Your powers are very useful, so I appreciate that you're inclined to help us. Mountain ash can also be carved or used to build structures, and if its protective qualities turn out to apply to your monsters, I imagine we can help you as well."

"Where does one get mountain ash? From mountains?"
