Fernando makes nervous small talk before the convocation

He arrives early, so he is sitting in his seat, slightly bored, slightly nervous at getting to prove his loyalty for himself and his county.  A bit of small talk probably wouldn't hurt. He turns to the person next to him.

"Do you feel prepared for the convention?"

Okay, not as small a talk as he meant to.

"It would be hard to be completely prepared, since no one knows yet how it'll go! But I think so, I've got my affairs at home squared away and am all ready to meet people and discuss whatever needs discussing."

"Yes, I got my own affairs in order."  The mind readers probably aren't out yet, but just in case he thinks about how he set his affairs in the lawful and just hands of an Abadaran!

"I'm sure the Queen will give us amble opportunity to show ourselves as loyal citizens to her nation."

"I think if that were all she was looking for there wouldn't be a kobold? Unless I suppose they were transformed by Archmage Naima."

Another thing he shouldn't think about!  Except to think how grateful he is that such a great Archmage serves the Queen's Nation and Cheliax as a whole!

"I'm sure they will prove themselves a loyal citizen also.  The Archmage Naima is wise and gracious."

Shit, is there something to the loyalty tests he missed?  Think hard but not in the wrong direction!

"She's amazing! And the queen is too, especially if you believe the pamphlets but even if you don't."

"I stopped paying as much attention to the pamphlets after the Queen made clear some had crossed the line of acceptability."

Not that he understands why others were still allowed, but he trusts his Queen!  Yes he does.

"Well, even then she made it clear it was all right to have them. I think it's only writing them that's dangerous at the moment. And it was very kind of her to spell it out so precisely too, so if I ever did take it into my head to publish I'd know what to avoid."

Wait, maybe he should have kept the pamphlets since the Queen made clear they were okay to have?  Has he already failed at properly trusting the goodness of his Queen?

He stutters some as his nerves get to him.  "Yes, uh, very kind of her, hopefully she ah, doesn't mind I went to the extra effort to rid myself of my pamphlets?"

"I think it was encouraged! Just, it was plain she didn't consider it a mistake we should've known better than to have made."

Okay good, he's not less loyal.  Anyway, onto loyal topics.

"Yes, the pamphlets are mixed as far as a source of information.  I found The Acts of Iomedae much more edifying, if somewhat challenging.  They assume an existing axiology at least in favor of Lawful Neutral or Neutral Good and argue for Iomedae's exact brilliant form of Lawful Goodness from there.  As a citizen working on my own atonement I'm still working to understand Lawful Neutral, but I'm sure I'll understand it, and then the Acts, fully in time."

That is a bit self-effacing, but humble is Good right?  Possibly too much vocabulary for this person but Fernando isn't going to waste a chance to show off how hard he has studied morality and goodness lately.

"Assume an existing what?"

Oh good, he gets to show off.  He stutters a bit.

"Ah yes, an uh, axiology, is a argument for what alignment is better or worse.  Like maybe some Pharasmins are in favor of True Neutral because Pharasma is the oldest God and should know best.  I personally am in favor of Lawful Good because of the symmetry of lawfully behaving towards other people in ways reflecting how you wish yourself to be treated.  Although as I said, I'm still working on getting there in practice."

There, nice humble education of his fellow citizen!

"Oh! That does sound nice, yes, I'd say I'm in favor of Lawful Good too though I doubt I'm powerful enough to be read."

Yep, a commoner... like himself.

"Oh same here, I don't read either.  I just assumed I wouldn't quite be Lawful Neutral yet... I had some things I've done to fix.  I've set them in progress towards being fixed so, uh probably Lawful Neutral soon, not that I detect."

Yes, in progress in fair and lawful hands, not 'washed his hand of'.

"I wasn't really in a position to have to do anything too awful, though I would eventually like to make friends with one of the Iomedaeans or someone and double-check."

"That sounds sensible.  I should probably do that... I admit I could use some guidance on The Acts of Iomedae, even if I think I got the basic idea."

No he shouldn't it might go like the conversation with the Sower and- stop thinking.

"If you wind up in a position to introduce me, it's Remei Petit."

He's not going to be in a position to do that, because he's not going to talk to someone that makes him doubt his loyalty.

"Of course I will.  I'm Fernando... uh" he usually avoids his last name but it feels awkward to leave it out in this case. "Fernando Marti"

She has to scoot along to make way for somebody who brought three attendants and needs four seats together. "Have a good convention, Fernando Marti!"

"You too!"
