"Yeah, you guys might wanna work on that one."

He shoves his papers in his messenger bag.

"So, you do magnets, right? Should I be afraid?"

He waves his hand generally around his face. It has a fair number of piercings.

"No more than anyone else should be! I hate to break it to you but, uh, that quantity of metal is kinda trivial compared to, say," and she gestures at a lamp post.

"...yeah, wow, that's dangerous."

He sounds very impressed.

"Honestly the piercing thing is more about putting them back in again."

"Hm?"

"I basically have to re-pierce myself every time. It's a pain in the ass."

"Oh. Yeah, that sounds like it sucks."

"Well...depends."

He grins.

"So, she wants to be a teacher?"

"Mhm."

"At your parents' place, then, huh? She'd do a lot of good, I bet."

He nods to himself.

"So, that's her story...what's yours?"

"Yeah, she will.

As for me...I don't really know yet."

"Yeah, same here. It's, uh...different, if you're a mutant, too."

Sigh. "Yeah."

And then someone comes up behind him and puts their hands over his eyes. "Guess who!" a chipper, unfamiliar voice says.

The voice might be unfamiliar, but he has a pretty good idea of who it must be.

"I guess Edie!"

"Yep!"

She takes her hands off his eyes and hugs him.

Aww, he's not used to relationships progressing to the hug phase this quickly. He could get used to this!

He hugs back.

"You have a cool s...friend! Sfriend?"

"I don't think that's a word!"

"I can make up words and you can't stop me!"

"So what does 'sfriend' mean?"

friend who is secretly your sister?

He doesn't know if she's 'listening' but he tries to think it as hard as he can.

Then I don't think it's much of an improvement on sister! Aside from obscurity, I suppose.

"Hey, I never said I was good at making up words."

"Granted." Hug.

Aw yes, more hugs.

"Wanna go get lunch or something? I don't have another class for a while."

"Sure, sounds good." She lets go and steps away.
