One day long ago. Emmy had a dream. She didn't call herself Emmy back then. It's been so long, if you spend too long in the Dreamscape it emphasizes parts of you, and dulls your memories of your life before. It also allows you to reshape the Dreamscape to suit you just a little, expanding its abilities along a line resonant with your core self. That doesn't happen for centuries though.

It has to have been at least that long.

Empathy, Emmy for short, is now the primary controller of the Dreamscape, attempting to help people with the problems in their life through the limited tools the Dreamscape makes available. She also offers the option to enter the Dreamscape permanently, casting off your previous life and any other afterlife that may or may not exist. Few take her up on the latter offer but over the years some have.
