it is a truth universally acknowledged that a supervillain in possession of good taste must be in want of a nemesis (or, meguca Ruby cross drops on Worm)

And Skywalker's group should move on as well.

What sort of environment does Anakin think would be best for their training?

Something a bit isolated, like their first cabin... Ease of meeting up with the meguca isn't a big concern, since Anakin can teleport and the meguca can make a day trip out of the entire planet.

Though, given the amount of money they have, it's relatively doable to rent an isolated cabin that's still in reasonable driving distance of the city – might be the best of both worlds.

Good access to biological materials helps Lily, too – though she can lean on the meguca and especially Cauldron for a lot. (Being a Tinker sponsored by a shadowy governmental organization is very nice in some ways.)

True – and Anakin wants to seriously push Skywalker on combat skills (though she'll let Lily beg off to focus on Tinkering), they might not be able to keep up with the meguca but there's still significant benefits to their styles... It's good for self-control, too, and saber practice makes for a good exercise break from the sorcery and far-sight Anakin starts heavily mixing in...

She enjoys herself with the saber practice, surprisingly. The sorcery is a little weird to wrap her head around at first- but once she gets the proper state of mind, it seems almost natural.

Good – that means Anakin can push her even harder...

But then, one day during one of their breaks for saber practice – Anakin's introducing more advanced forms, especially as their self-imposed deadline starts looming – one day...

A whisper in the Force appears – a girl, freaked out, confused, hurt – barely distinguishable from Anakin, invisible at first to them both, and she stays frozen and silent as her distress and pain crash through her.

And when this world's Anakin inevitably notices her, it's – gentler. Kinder, even, than the previous worlds the girl has projected between. She doesn't startle, doesn't whip around. She trails off talking to Skywalker, turns to look at the younger Anakin with a furrowed brow.

"Where did you come from?" she asks.

Skywalker pauses, pulling at some of her cape ghosts, just in case.

"What? Do you see someone?"

"A flicker of a vision," she says, softly. "Like – a much younger me."

"She's not a threat, I don't think." And she turns her gentle focus back to the younger Anakin.

"I – "

"I don't know what's going on, I was in the crystal caves – I – "

"Visions don't work like this."

She's shaking – and that upset, that fear, the echo of the turmoil she felt in the last two visions – it blurs her sight, ever so briefly, and the world before her dissolves.

She vanishes from both Anakin and Skywalker's senses with only the barest hint of movement.

"That was unexpected."

"I didn't have a vision like that when I was on Ilum..."

...They already know about alternate versions of the same Earth...

"I need to tell Ruby about this. If she was from a parallel world..."

"...Then there wouldn't be a Simurgh there. And she can get out to the wider galaxy. And back."

"And if she's at Ilum... Her Palpatine is still alive – the Jedi Order still exists." (She hasn't grown that close to Palpatine just yet.)

Behemoth is imminent, though – and the war has years yet before it starts. (Her own past is... Something that matters less than protecting whatever city the Endbringer will destroy next.)

"We need to get moving stat – can you inform Lily, and alert Cauldron that we might have found an alternate Galactic Republic?" So far, none of the alternate Earths that Cauldron's tested out transporting her to have had the same wider galactic situation. "I'll get Ruby."

"All right, I'll go tell her."

"Thanks."

She teleports away.

Ruby's got her team – especially Daniella – drilling hard to use magic without transforming. She looks up immediately when Anakin arrives. "What's up?"

"I just had a vision of an alternate me – I think she was accidentally projecting. It was brief, but..."

"Oh hell, yeah, I'll find her." (It turns out that even if she teleports a hyperspace capable ship to another universe, that ship can't then jump to hyperspace itself if the universe doesn't have the same native system – all she can do is teleport it right back, and she hasn't figured out transporting anything bigger than a fighter within a universe, not yet, and also even that's fucking exhausting.)

She reaches out to Ruby's mind, shares what she sensed...

Hum.

Then she calls out to her team – "Hey guys, get over here – change of plans."

Ellie and Daniella both trot over.

"I had a vision of another me – another Jedi me, which means an alternate Galactic Republic."
