Mu skips over several questions on her list. "Are you now or have you ever been ... affiliated with the communist party? A member of a secret society? In the witness protection program? Subject to a nondisclosure agreement? Sworn to secrecy?"

"… No, no, no, no, no? Well, maybe yes to the last, but I don't remember what six-year-old me went around promising people, so I don't know."

Flip, flip. "Mm... have you, within the past week: taken any drugs not approved by the FDA? left the planet Earth? been the proximal cause of death for any person or persons? encountered any phenomenon inexplicable by the laws of nature? experienced a major shift in your belief system? taken any solemn oaths? met anyone new?"

"No, no – what does proximal mean? Still no – no, no, no, yes. Well, okay, depends on how precise you are about the 'major shift' in my belief system and also what you consider to be 'laws of nature', but basically no."

"Uh huh ... anyone new and interesting? Also, to your best estimation is there a more than fifty percent chance that you are a person of interest to any one of the following organizations or agencies: the CIA, FBI, Mafia, KGB, ISIL, MI-6, NSA, DOD, Roswell, Guantanamo, Homeland Security, NCS, or the church of Scientology?"

"New and interesting like what? And no, to all of them."

"I think the intent of the question was 'people who might have recruited you to the Avengers Initiative,' but feel free to answer it however you feel is accurate."

"Well, you guys are sorta new and sorta interesting, what with the whole suspecting-me-of-supernatural thing, but other than that no?" He looks a bit like he wants to sigh, then changes expression to one of slight interest. "Oh, wait, no, there was this one person…"

"Sorta thank you. And? Who?"

"Oh, nobody really," he says dismissively. "Just some random gun-murderess, nothing important."

"Whaaaaat?"

Bounce. Scribble scribble.

"The woman who gave me a ride back from the hospital," he smirks, "had a gun on her and so, at first, I thought she was a gun-murderess. Oh, wait, no, first I didn't see the gun, she was just super… muscly, and so I first thought she was an axe-murderess, then migrated to thinking she was a gun-murderess."

Aww. Pout.

...Mu breaks down into helpless laughter.

Snort.

Theo also starts to laugh a bit more, but tries to stay serious so he can continue his tale of fear. "And then she offered to drive me home, and of course I couldn't just say no, because she was offering and being nice and I'd literally just said that I needed a way home. So yeah. I then got into the vehicle, with the gun-murderess, after having just woken up in a morgue, and was… I don't really want to say quaking with fear, but it was pretty much quaking with fear." He smiles. "She turned out to be pretty nice in the end, actually."

So much giggling.

"You're all right, then?" Reubel asks, looking concerned. "She didn't ... harass you, or anything?"

Theo might also be giggling a bit, but obviously in a very manly way.

"Yeah, I'm fine," he reassures Reubel. "She took me home and seemed very concerned when I started acting weirdly after seeing the memorial and everything – yeah, boy was that fun, seeing my own memorial – and anyway, she seemed genuinely nice overall."

"Police," Mu manages to choke out through the laughter.

Reubel shoots Mu what's probably intended to be a quelling glance. "Yeah, wow, I hadn't even thought about that. Man, that must have been ... weird."

"D'you know if anyone ever got around to taking that down?" Grace asks Ev quietly.

Theo looks at Mu a bit inquisitively. "Police?"

"Uh, yeah," says Ev in response to Grace. "I'm pretty sure I heard some guys saying it'd gone."
