An invitation to a party appears on various university billboards inviting people to the Kappa Alpha greek house located in the mostly finished Castle Commonwealth mall on the edge of town. The notice instructs people to follow the access road at 67 Lost Nation drive and enter through the back door and promises that signs will be posted to guide people to the party itself.
"We should practice the telepathy though. Practice makes everything safer."
"I think I'll probably enjoy it once I'm used to it. It's just being told about the possibility of people messing with my head so close to finding out."
"I'm going to go take a high-resolution scan of my brain. I don't expect it to be exciting but you can come if you want."
"It's not actually that exciting to watch. Or at least the regular scan wasn't."
"So, are we waiting for the others to come back before we pick bedrooms and put our various clothes away because otherwise we should maybe do that."
"Nah, now's a good time. Might be better this way, not everyone crowding the hall at once."
And so Claire leads the way up to the bedrooms. The hallways are arranged so that there are four bedrooms that look out to the sides of the wing and two bedrooms that look off into the distance. The bedrooms that look out the sides still have ok views but two of them are facing the bedrooms in the same position on another wing. All the bedrooms themselves are quite similar, there's a decent sized wardrobe, a dresser, a desk with a chair, a queen-sized bed, and a single side table. "So it looks like the main distinguishing factor is the windows."
" I've never had a room this nice I don't think. Certainly a lot nicer than a dorm room and we have to share those."
"I don't have a strong opinion about the windows. Maybe we could draw lots or something?"
"I'm trying to decide if anywhere on this hall is close enough or if we should try to put you two next door to each other. And me next door to Emily and Alex. It's kinda a small hallway there's probably no need."
"There are probably dice in the game room. Or we could do first come-first served or we could leave the rooms with the nicest views for Riley and Alex. I'm not sure how much time any of us will be spending in these rooms."
"Well maybe you can have one of those and the rest of us can draw lots. Though that does preclude using a die. But we have markers and paper, we could put names in a pot."
"Alright, I'll go make name cards and we can put them up next to the doors." Emily runs off.
The wait a few minutes and Emily returns with ten nicely decorated name cards and suction cups. "The tape doesn't want to stick to the walls." She sets aside four of the cards. "I think we can pick at random and then trade." She shuffles the remaining six cards and deals them out. Going clockwise the rooms are assigned to Linda, Claire, Anna, Emily, Riley and Alex. The right side is the one facing another wing of rooms. "Ooh, I get my end room without trading."
