Yeah…okay, that doesn’t sound so bad. And I do like points.

I do think it's possible that thse drawbacks might end up enabling storylines you wouldn't like as well as ones you would - they are drawbacks, after all. But the Dramatic Damsel tree is a friendlier bunch of drawbacks than most, especially if you're interested in what they have to offer.

Well, I sure am the kind of person to take lots of Dramatic Damsel drawbacks. Ooh, hm, maybe I should be trying harder to come up with more kidnapping-related perks drawbacks specifically.

That sounds like it could be fun!

I also found some in the neighbourhood of Marionette, in case you're interested.

Name: Puppet Show - Grants: +2
(Requires Marionette and That's How It Goes)
Marionette's influence extends to fully suppressing and reactivating your powers.

Name: Memory Lane - Grants: +3
(Requires Marionette and Live The Role)
Marionette's influence extends to altering and suppressing your memories, as easily and powerfully as the narrative itself could. The effect of It Gets Better still applies.

I like Marionette a lot less than Dramatic Damsel, but I appreciate the thought.

That makes sense!

What kinds of Dramatic Damsel storylines do you think you might enjoy? What powers do you think you could pair storylines like that with, the way Get Rich Quick is paired with Motherlode and so on?

Ooh, that’s a good thought. Effie flips back to the powers list and…hm.

Not a power I’m pretty sure, but I wonder if you could do something with the destinations for a trans-world, possibly longer-term, kidnapping?

I'm not sure! Can you say more about what you mean?

Well, like—most kidnappings are going to take place in contiguous space, right?

Generally speaking, although not exclusively. It's very possible to be kidnapped out of one world into another, if the right kinds of magic are in play!

Right, but like, getting kidnapped for my valuable secretions was also possible before, right?

Yes. But I'm not sure - do you mean you want an option that is sort of a Destination Drawback?

It is a destination-inspired drawback? Is the idea? Your use of capital letters makes me slightly nervous.

I might just be overly confused because I think I interrupted you in the middle of explaining.

I’m not sure you did, I didn’t think it through very hard before I wrote it down.

Oh, I see! Hmm, I think I can come up with a few different ways to juxtapose the concept of destinations or alternate worlds with the concept of Dramatic Damsel storylines...

Name: Long-Range Broadcast - Grants: +6
(Requires The Wrong Crowd)
Kidnappers you'd be Popular with will find out about you from worlds away. They may not all choose to pursue you, but if they do, they will find ways of reaching you. You may spend a lot of your time far from home.

Name: Into the Fire - Grants: +12
(Requires The Wrong Crowd and Isekai Roulette)
In choosing your destination, the Spirit will prioritize matchmaking you with an exceptionally compatible villain. Escape may not be feasible, even in the long term.

The second one isn't quite literally a 'Destination Drawback', but it's the kind of thing I was thinking of when I wrote that.

Oh, I adore the second one!!!

I'm so glad! ♡

And she now has seven points more in her check category than she has points spent in check category, which means she can go through and upgrade some stars. Let's see...oh, Like Roses was only a star, gotta get that good good appearance power synergy. Oh, and she had Popular at a lower tier than she needed to be able to use it for The Wrong Crowd, whoops. Okay, still three points left...

...Chaser Six When would be really excellent for if she keeps getting kidnapped a lot. Actually, if she took it she could also take Long-Range Broadcast! Her biggest qualm is she doesn't want home to go extended periods of time without her, or to miss out on stuff, but Chaser Six When solves that neatly. One of her can get kidnapped and one can stay at home. It's perfect.

And if she takes Chaser Six When and its prerequisite Self-Reflection, those together cost nine points, which is six more than three, but Long-Range Broadcast gives six points.

Perfect.

Check check check.

I think I have a build I'm happy with but I'm obviously going to sleep on it. Like. I'm not leaving before the end of the semester anyway.

Feel free to keep making suggestions if you think of any! I like working with your suggestions.

Probably I will do that even if I don’t intend to use them, just so other people you meet can have nice things.

Ooh, what about a drawback where you need glasses? For both “glasses cute” and “fumbling blindly on the floor when they get knocked off” reasons.

Hmm! That does sound cute, but it might end up falling under A Single Perfect Flaw... I'm not sure.

Oh, that's true. It's probably not the last time I'll think of something that more properly goes under that heading, either.
