The Valar announce that they've done as much as they can in Singularity (they can't bring back peoples' babies in that critical period either, but they can get them earlier versions) and are setting up portals between there and Sanity as soon as they are confident they've cleaned up the plague. A bunch of Elf architects have this wild idea for a fivedimensional city where alternating intersections are interdimensional portals between various Valinors and they get eagerly to setting it up.
"Hi. Thank you for coming. Is there any chance that before you go meet her I can get an affadavit or something about what happened, for the trial -"
"Did it take them that long to catch her? She killed me, that's what."
"Didn't answer the circles for a couple years. She has a good attorney and it looks like it'll be something of a high-profile case, a statement would be really helpful."
"That's all, just in front of some people who can witness and notarize it and stuff."
"They have to usually be able to handle murder trials without consulting the victim, don't they?"
"Well, we're getting a portal to Limbo, so not anymore."

And he informs their attorneys that the victim answered a summons so he could talk to his wife but was disinclined to have any involvement with the proceedings.
That'll be admissible as evidence and can be dated by a forensics demon, then.
