The Valar announce that they've done as much as they can in Singularity (they can't bring back peoples' babies in that critical period either, but they can get them earlier versions) and are setting up portals between there and Sanity as soon as they are confident they've cleaned up the plague. A bunch of Elf architects have this wild idea for a fivedimensional city where alternating intersections are interdimensional portals between various Valinors and they get eagerly to setting it up.
"I have no idea! Lots of people have summoned their relatives, lots of people know it's true, they're not going to be able to keep it a secret forever. But - it's kind of weird that it's been a secret this long in the first place. Maybe they wanted it to stay one, for some reason? Anyway, they didn't tell me a reason, they just told me that there was a law against it now and unless I took down all my videos immediately they'd arrest me. It was weird. - I didn't take the videos down. People deserve to know. Aren't you glad you got to see your granddad?"
Giggle. "Okay. There's an afterlife for everyone else, too, just no way to reach it."
"The Elves are working on some kind of plan with all their fancy dimensional portal tech."
"Sure am! I try to not do politics stuff every single video and I want to say something about the demon who got arrested for helping someone daevafy, but I'll probably do a video about it this week or next."
Kid about his age in South Africa. "Hey," he says. "I want to be a daeva."
"Oh.
Uh, there are a lot of good reasons to wait. If you want to have kids someday, if you want to be able to travel freely in this star system, if you want your full legal rights should you ever be accused of a crime..."
"My family has a lot of resources. If they hadn't noticed I was missing I'd be in a storeroom on Luna for the next decade. If they'd noticed but hadn't been able to have a demon find me and go to Luna and file a complaint with the police, same. Or if they'd filed a complaint but the people who hid me had been more competent -" - if Timothy hadn't been willing to work outside the law once it wasn't going to help me fast enough, he doesn't add -
"Murder trial. The demon who helped Arati become an angel is bound and gagged in Ganymede, and Ganymede's insisting that the angel is just someone impersonating her."
Tiny camera. "I'm recording this conversation," he says once it's on. "Look, is wanting-to-die something that could maybe be fixed with enough money, a better place to live, access to medication or whatever - there's a spell in my world called the Cheering Charm that helps if the problem is being sad..."
