The Valar announce that they've done as much as they can in Singularity (they can't bring back peoples' babies in that critical period either, but they can get them earlier versions) and are setting up portals between there and Sanity as soon as they are confident they've cleaned up the plague. A bunch of Elf architects have this wild idea for a fivedimensional city where alternating intersections are interdimensional portals between various Valinors and they get eagerly to setting it up.
Does this involve Jake going somewhere he can't fly, because Jake does not really like that.
Jake sits in the air sullenly. "You're probably not here to tell me that there's been a mistake and I can go home, are you."
"Everybody's been real excited to tell me about how I should cooperate in my own abduction, which, fuck that. What do you need to get them to let me go?"
"There's going to be a trial. They're going to attempt to prove that you tortured a lot of people to death. We're going to try to explain what happened in a way that persuades them you didn't break any laws, they broke laws so badly in the course of arresting you that you should be let go to teach them a lesson, or you've already spent enough time here to account for whatever wrongs you've done and should now be sent home. I would need to know more about what happened to make a case for any of those things."
"I haven't the foggiest fucking clue what laws they'd need to have broken to acknowledge they fucked up."
"Didn't offer you a trial, didn't offer you a lawyer, didn't inform you of the charges against you, didn't arrive at the conclusion there were charges against you via acceptable means, kept you contained to within a space smaller than ten miles square, I could make the case that for a fairy that's intolerable and it should be a thousand - didn't give you access to food and water and internet and contact with other people, didn't have people available to answer questions or concerns, exposed you to danger, exposed you to violence, threatened to do any of the above..."
"Didn't credibly offer me those things?" he suggests. "Haven't mentioned how many counts? I have no idea how big this place is. Didn't ask me if I had any dietary restrictions. Selection of 'other people' is shit. I don't think my girlfriend knows where I am or if I'm ever coming back. I don't think there's Internet in here."
"The lady who arrested me sure contacted her all right in the first place, my girlfriend told her to leave me alone. I don't have the first clue where the food they've been offering me comes from and I've been getting the demon to make me stuff, I don't eat animal products that involved animals."
"Yes, that still happens in Fairyland, it's mostly stopped in the mortal world now."
"I don't know what an orc is. And good luck getting fairies to quit eating animals. It's mostly hunting, though, not factory farms."
"Fairyland is infinite. But maybe you can cover as far as anyone's willing to haul or something, a few lightyears."
"Not their relationship to me, I got seven of the last twelve CEOs of factory farming operations before they found my summoner and made her dismiss me."
