The Valar announce that they've done as much as they can in Singularity (they can't bring back peoples' babies in that critical period either, but they can get them earlier versions) and are setting up portals between there and Sanity as soon as they are confident they've cleaned up the plague. A bunch of Elf architects have this wild idea for a fivedimensional city where alternating intersections are interdimensional portals between various Valinors and they get eagerly to setting it up.
"Lots. I mean, the lifespan thing would otherwise be an even worse problem."
"It sounds like a pretty awful problem as it stands. So - there are other worlds like mine but different times, we got that. There're also other worlds that aren't like this one at all? Just humans and demons and so on?"
"That's faster than I noticed Cam and Miranda but they did not look alike."
"We don't look very alike, you've got -" helpless gesture at her chin -
"Facial hair! Yes, humans do that. Some shave it but I don't like looking exactly like the Elves."
"You didn't notice me and Miranda, Afternoon did. With very little to go on from her end. And you're usually boys, this is one of the four percent of gender-swapped Ardas."
" - that's really weird. My parents really really wouldn't have had a son first unless a lot of other things were different."
"Oh, they're genderswapped too, everyone you know is genderswapped. Even the Valar."
"And Eru, to whatever extent that's a meaningful question, but the pronouns are different anyway. We're here because I randomly felt like visiting a genderswapped one and this one was coming up on an intervention point."
"Are we satisfyingly gender-swapped? Coming up on - how many are there -"
"More than four hundred million. Limiting pacing factor is sane Valar to go teach other Valar to be sane, we're early in the exponentiation process. Plus we can only visit the kind of Arda where Elves have chips; most of them are higher magic, lower tech, and we can't fork our way into those."
"Okay at this point I think we would like the standard introduction to capabilities and projects and so on, is that available."
"Sure." Here it is. "You will need to pick a time of day or introduce a new nickname theme."
"Are there times of day free?" She sits back so Findekáne can read over her shoulder.
"Dawn? Twilight? Lunchtime? Maybe you have fancy words for various relative angles of binary suns that I never learned?"
They do! High-gold is separate from high-silver is separate from noon and so on; she'll take low-silver. "Does everyone else not have binary suns?"
