The Valar announce that they've done as much as they can in Singularity (they can't bring back peoples' babies in that critical period either, but they can get them earlier versions) and are setting up portals between there and Sanity as soon as they are confident they've cleaned up the plague. A bunch of Elf architects have this wild idea for a fivedimensional city where alternating intersections are interdimensional portals between various Valinors and they get eagerly to setting it up.
"Nah, we think it goes off - personality, or suitedness to the magic, something like that."
"Not public because no one lets us talk, but it'll probably get out sooner or later."
"And would've had a harder time verifying that was what was going on, because demons figured it out by forensic conjuring, and distributing the news once they figured it out, because everyone can't make themselves the news. Some of them know. Heard of a fairy who tried to tell summoners and got accused of suicide-baiting -"

I've been trying to explain to people that demons can't even take souls and some people decided I was just saying that as part of a very clever long-term scheme to convince people not to be sufficiently wary so demons could take more souls."
"If this conversation ends in you asking for my soul I'm gonna be real annoyed."
"...and that's why you'd be annoyed? Because of the rigmarole? Demons can't take souls. I'm here because I wanted you all to have a nice house away from stupid governments that doesn't explode at all."
Most of the wizards are hanging out in Milliways racing rocks around mazes on the table.
He's lost the magic a couple times over the last couple months but he has it now; he sits down with them.
